Default Where to buy quality distributor cap and rotor

I've had terrible luck with the distributor caps and rotors that I've purchased from the local parts stores....cheap chinese products and usually the rotor button bottoms out and locks up when the screws are tightened.
Any recommendations on where to buy good quality U.S. made parts that are equivalent to the originals? I dont care about numbers or logos, i just want parts that work.

Thanks

Default Caps & rotors

I think "Standard Ignition" still makes their Blue Streak line of ignition parts. The caps & rotors were blue, and they had brass terminals. I've had them on my engine for almost 20 years with no problems.

I tried one of those vendors and the parts were chinese and the rotor button had the same issue as the two i tried from the local parts store.

If at all possible, i would like to find a black cap. the blue really stands out under the ignition shielding.

Go to NAPA and get what you want. Echlin branded parts. Last I bought some, they still had black caps, good rotors and the heavy duty points if that's what you want.

I've never bought any Accel parts but I understand their stuff is good too.

Have your Napa try to locate a RR1650 high performance cap with brass contacts and a high performance rotor RR1670. These are very thick, Brown phenolic parts but hard to find. I just picked up two of each at my local Napa.

FWIW, they still carry the "short" FI distributor caps too.

Accel and Echlin used to be the same - Echlin owned/made Accel parts. Not sure if Accel was sold at some point of time, or not

OK, the brands that offer excellent ignition parts are,....Standard, Niehoff, Borg Warner and Eechlin just to name a few.....all have premium parts where you will be able to find either brass or copper contacts in the caps...They also sell at reduced prices their secondary line of ignition parts which many stores offer to be price competive.....I doubt very much if the Corvette stores will have the brands I listed available as its a considerable amount of money to have a 'complete' ignition line....there is no cherry picking the above lines......How do I know the brands above? My Dad`s parts store was one of the largests in the Detroit area for years until the chain stores started popping up all over with unbranded discount parts......Try Napa as some has suggested and stay away from white boxes and plastic bagged parts

All of you have computers, so check the above lines for yourself.....maybe I should re-open the parts store.....

Is the cap the same color as the rotor, or is it black?

There is a company that advertises in the NCRS driveline. They sell the extended tip rotor that was used in the '60's high performance cars. Their a non-supporting vendor so pm me if anyone wants the info.
