How to polish engine alumimum?
I am having a h**l of a time getting my visible engine and accessory aluminum parts to look good- alternator, belt tensioner, throtle body, right front of block, etc. I really don't want to go with aftermarket chrome covers. Is there a way to get to and clean/polish/shine these "rough surface" areas?

No EASY way. Sand low grit and work up to 400 or even 2000 then hit with metal polish and 0000 steel wool until looks like chrome. I like simichrome for the final polish.

I don't see it being done easily by hand at all, takes a commercial polisher usually.. But these guys can do anything you can unbolt and send to them: http://www.hotrodlane.cc/
