JDM Flair

The Corvette is a uniquely American creation, an affordable sports car that has always gone toe-to-toe with the world's best. But that hasn't stopped folks from applying different treatments to the Corvette, including Jim Bjork, who has always owned American cars but also adores JDM style. Thus, he decided to combine the two in this truly unique C4, which is already racking up trophies.

Award-Winner

While it may not be everyone's cup of tea, Bjork's C4 has certainly attracted the attention of car show judges, who have bestowed it with several awards including RADwood's "Raddest Domestic" trophy, though the pandemic canceled many of its planned appearances thus far.

Finding Inspiration

Regardless, the pandemic did afford Bjork the time to complete this build, which started after he purchased the well-traveled car - which had spent time in Japan before being imported into Sweden. That prior life is what inspired the build from the start, which is also why Bjork created a custom Pandem-style body kit for the Corvette.

Ferrari Inspired

The kit was designed specifically to cover a set of retro-style three-spoke Super Advan Racing SA3E wheels, which are a whopping 11 inches wide up front and 13 inches wide in the rear. And if you immediately think Ferrari Testarossa when you see the car's side strakes, well, there's a good reason for that - that's precisely the look Bjork was going for.

Mechanical Stuff

As far as power goes, this particular C4 is still fitted with the old L98 5.7-liter V8, which cranks out a modest 250 horsepower. An ECU chip and open exhaust help a bit in that department, while the car sports a TA Technix air suspension with an Air Lift Performance 3P management system underneath. Throw in a very nice custom interior, and you've got a pretty solid take on a fourth-gen Corvette.

Custom Bits

Custom parts are everywhere on this C4, including side skirts that are a mesh between parts for a Nissan S13 and John Greenwood Motorsports, the one-off rear bumper, as well as the giant rear wing, which replicates the unit from the BMW M3 E30 EVO but adds even more height. A Miami Blue paint job covers all of it and looks great in the process.

Solid Attempt

This JDM-inspired Corvette is a bit controversial given the fact that it mixes two things that don't normally go together. But we applaud Bjork's creativity and attempt to stand out from the crowd, especially since it's based on the rather humble and often unappreciated C4.
