Twin Engine Corvette is a Wild Creation

Two LT4 V8s side-by-side give the Supersuper Car 1,300 horsepower... and a slightly lofty expectation of 300 miles per hour. No matter the speed, this build is wild!

The Supersuper Car is ENORMOUS

Gordon Tronson is a custom car builder, and has created what he calls the "Supersuper car." It's certainly super, as it is a wild mid-engine creation based on a C5 Corvette. In cooperation with Amsoil, this Corvette made its debut at the Hot August Nights car show. And it's HUGE. The rear of the car is lengthened almost two feet to give room for the new power plants. Yep, plural.

You've Never Seen A C5 Look Like This

In some form or another, mid-engine Corvettes have almost always existed. From the C2 to the new C8 there have been prototypes with the engine behind the driver. But the C5 never really had that incarnation. Tronson decided to build not only a mid-engine C5, but did so with two engines. His V8 of choice? The LT4.

The Build Included An Immense Amount of Work

Before those engines could be placed in the rear of the Corvette, this car needed to be fully disassembled and reengineered. In this pic, we get a behind-the-scenes look at the body panels that had to be fabricated. It's no surprise that only the doors are left original.

There's Very Little "Corvette" Left

With a lack of hardware up front, why not change up the looks? Given the amount of work performed on the rear, it makes sense to do some changes up front too. We can't identify the headlights but they appear to be a crossover headlight of some sort. As with the rear, the front fenders are flared out considerably, and a new smooth(er) front end has been grafted on.

Two Engines, One Transmission

The real heart of this car is actually two hearts. Twin LT4 V8 engines power the Supersuper Car, which sit longitudinally side by side. Power from each crank is mated together then sent to a rear transaxle. Tronson appears to have re-used C5 rear suspension components for the lengthened rear end.

The Side That Most Cars Will See

In keeping with Corvettes, the quad central exhausts are retained, but this time arranged in a square. With 1300 horsepower on tap, this C5 should be incredibly quick, although we know it's more for show, and it just happens to go.
