A 5.7-liter V8 motor sits under the hood of this 1972 C3 Corvette convertible, which gets a single four-barrel carburetor and Edelbrock cylinder heads.

Earlier this week, we discussed one of the rarest C1 Corvettes to ever go on sale. As most Corvette enthusiasts already know, these classic ‘Vettes usually sell for large sums at the auction. However, we recently came across a numbers-matching 1972 C3 Corvette convertible with all the makings of a true collector’s item.

What’s even more interesting about this model is that it’s currently up for sale on Bring a Trailer with no reserve. Looking at the pictures, we can say with some certainty that the owners of this gorgeous C3 Corvette convertible really took care of the machine. The car came into possession of the current seller back in 2014. Before that, it also underwent quite an elaborate refurbishment in 2011.

The C3 enjoyed one of the longest production runs of any Corvette generation. The Golden Bow Tie brand started building the third-generation Corvette back in 1967 before finally retiring it in 1982. The company only built 6,580 convertible versions of the C3 Corvette.

This particular 1972 C3 Corvette convertible also gets a four-speed manual.

Under the hood of this convertible sports car, we find a 5.7-liter V8 motor. The standard 350ci motor could produce 200 HP of maximum power and 300 lb-ft of peak torque in its factory tune. The powertrain also has a single four-barrel carburetor and comes complete with Edelbrock cylinder heads. Inside the cabin, black vinyl adorns the bucket seats along with the door panels and the dashboard.

An aftermarket RetroSound stereo and a non-functioning factory air conditioning unit are also part of the ensemble. This C3 Corvette convertible sports a beautiful War Bonnet Yellow paint job. The car rides on a set of 15-inch rally wheels. Furthermore, BFGoodrich radial T/A tires envelop the rims.

This ‘72 Chevrolet Corvette is probably one of the most accessible classic cars on sale, with a leading bid that currently stands at $23,250. The auction ends in four days, and we do not expect its selling price to come anywhere close to the Mecum Auctions’ estimate of $150,000 to $200,000 for the black 1954 Corvette roadster.
