2023 Corvette Z06 Top Speed, Fuel Economy Figures Revealed

Both numbers are arguably worse than expected, but the 2023 Corvette Z06 is still an impressive machine.

Though we already know most everything there is to know about the 2023 Corvette Z06, there are a few details that haven’t been revealed. Previously, that included the car’s top speed and fuel economy ratings, a couple of things that may or may not matter to owners, depending on how they use the car. Regardless, all of that information has finally been revealed courtesy of Corvette Blogger, which obtained it while speaking with the GM team at Corvettes at Carlisle.

First up, we have top speed, which is always a nice bragging right but rarely something that any of us will actually explore in real life, for obvious reasons. Regardless, Chief Engineer Josh Holder revealed that the 2023 Corvette Z06 top speed comes in at 195 miles-per-hour for the base car, while the aero-equipped models are a bit slower, as expected, with a top speed of 189 mph.

Holder also noted that GM hasn’t officially published those numbers because it hasn’t yet subjected both cars to two flying mile runs in each direction, which are then averaged out to come up with a more accurate top speed figure. Regardless, they’re impressive numbers, particularly when you consider the fact that even the base Z06 provides a considerable amount of downforce and isn’t necessarily designed for achieving crazy speed at the top end.

Next up, we have fuel economy, which isn’t something that we expected to be impressive either, given the fact that the 2023 Corvette Z06 has already been slapped with a gas guzzler tax. Regardless, GM has submitted those numbers to the EPA for final approval, Holder confirmed, which come in at 12 mpg in the city and 19 on the highway for the aero-equipped cars, and 12/21 for the base model, with combined ratings of 14 and 15, respectively.

Obviously, no one is buying a new Z06 for its efficiency, but this is still good information that’s worth considering. There’s also a notable gap between the car’s city and highway figures, which is interesting but not entirely unsurprising. Regardless, for those that do a lot of around-town cruising in this car, be prepared to spend a few bucks on gas after paying the government a penalty in the form of the gas guzzler tax, at least.
