C8 Corvette Convertible One-Touch Top Operation

Mods4Cars’ new SmartTop module for the C8 Corvette convertible will make it easier to raise or lower the car’s hardtop.

From the factory, there are two different ways to lower the top on a C8 Corvette convertible – press the unlock button on the key fob and then hold the top button down, or start the engine and then press and hold the convertible top button. However, those that prefer a one-touch top operation will soon get the chance to add that functionality to their C8 Corvette convertible thanks to a company called Mods4cars, which has just revealed what it calls the SmartTOP module for that particular model.

The SmartTOP module allows C8 Corvette convertible owners to raise or lower their retractable hardtop with one single quick press of the convertible top button, meaning that you can hit it and go on with your day while the top does its thing rather than having to hold it the whole time. Additionally, owners can still raise or lower the top with the factory key fob using a predetermined key combination. A simple change, but one that many folks have been pining for since the eighth-generation Corvette went on sale a few years ago.

That isn’t the only thing the SmartTOP is good for, however – the module will also enable owners to open and close the windows and wind deflector separately using the remote control, and starting or stopping the engine doesn’t impede the top’s opening or closing, either. Owners can program the module to suit their personal preference, or even deactivate it entirely if they wish.

“We have responded to the many requests and are pleased to be able to offer our SmartTOP module for the Chevrolet Corvette C8 soon,” said Mods4cars spokesman Sven Tornow. “And the installation of our new product is also child’s play and takes only a few minutes. Included in the scope of delivery is a specially developed plug-and-play adapter that ensures an easy connection between the vehicle electronics and the SmartTOP module.”

This type of part is nothing new, as Mods4cars has been making convertible top modules for a wide variety of vehicles since 2002. And since the module is easy to install as a plug and play replacement for the factory piece – requiring no permanent modifications – we imagine that it will be a popular addition to the C8 aftermarket catalog.
