From strong dyno pulls to excellent times on the quarter-mile, Corvettes broke the bank in Vegas at the first LS Fest West since 2019.

After a two-year delay, LS Fest West returned to Las Vegas with a vengeance in late April 2021, the roar of LS and LT V8s filling the desert air. Of course, it’s not an LS Fest without Corvettes! From C1s with LS swaps to the latest C8s and their LT2s, it’s not an LS Fest party until the ‘Vettes roll up to show off and bring the pain.

And when you’ve had to wait two years to unleash the beast all over the back of everyone’s skulls, you just might dominate the festivities. And dominate is what Corvettes did at this year’s LS Fest West.

Three Corvettes alone took top honors in the LS Fest West 2021 Grand Champion competitions. One such Corvette is the red 1964 beast owned by Josh Leisinger. We saw his C2 before at last year’s LS Fest XI, and it’s quite the machine. Leisinger’s been dominating events all over the country for years. Thus, it was no surprise he swept the vintage class in the Drag Race, Autocross and 3S Challenge categories.

Meanwhile, Craig Staley took home top honors in his 2016 Corvette, bringing home the top prize in the late-model class on the quarter-mile and 3S Challenge. Scot Spiewak snagged the gold in Late-Model by weaving his 2007 ‘Vette through the cones.

Over on the dyno, Corvettes swept the podium in the Naturally Aspirated category. Jordan Cooke’s 2009 ‘Vette punched the hardest with 525 horses on tap. Meanwhile, Travis McIntosh edged-out Michael Hitt by one horsepower. McIntosh’s 2010 ‘Vette scored silver with 452 horses, Hitt took home bronze in his ’70 C3 and its 451 ponies.

Alas, Corvettes didn’t take home everything, especially at the show ‘n’ shine, where no ‘Vette took home a trophy. Then again, we think it’s only because Bowling Green’s best were too busy revving their LS and LT V8s to stand around and look pretty. That said, we look forward to a few Corvettes doing just that to take home the gold come September. Not to mention all the other gold on the table.
