Nicely detailed and exclusive C8 scale model is a nice consolation prize for those waiting for the real thing.

If you don’t have a current order in place for a 2020 Corvette, you might have a hard time getting one at this point. And that’s also true even if you do have an order in the system, as GM recently admitted they won’t be able to fill all of them. Regardless, it appears that hungry prospective buyers can get their fix with a special edition C8 available exclusively at Costco. Unfortunately, it’s only a scale model – not the real thing.

Still, this exclusive Maisto 1/18th scale C8 Corvette is undeniably cool, anyway, and would look great sitting on anyone’s mantle. Maisto makes a variety of 2020 Corvette models, in a variety of colors. But if you want one finished in Sebring Orange with black stripes, you’ll have to go visit everyone’s favorite place to get a cheap hot dog and gorge on lots of free samples.

The 9.5-inch scale model is rather well-detailed considering the fact that Maisto makes more budget-friendly models. The doors, decklid, and frunk open, the steering wheel turns, and there’s even a suspension in place for the wheels and tires to modulate with. The body is die-cast metal, with a host of plastic parts, and the seat backs are even adjustable. Underneath, the model sports a detailed chassis with a separate exhaust system.

Maisto hasn’t yet announced pricing of its special Costco Corvette, but its models are typically on the cheaper side. This particular model is slated to be released sometime in the fall, which is perfect considering its Halloweenish look. And we imagine that it’ll probably sell just like the real thing. In other words, like delicious hotcakes with extra syrup.

Truthfully, if you own a Sebring Orange 2020, this model is basically a must-buy. Because who wouldn’t want to have a matching model for their C8? Even though early adopters are starting to receive a cool desk decoration from GM, Maisto’s version is much more detailed and life-like. Somewhat like the scale models that buyers of Lamborghinis and other exotics receive with their pricey purchases. And if you’re still waiting around for that C8 order to be filled, it’s also one way to ease the pain just a tad.
