Hennessey Showcases HP850-Equipped C7 Corvette Z06

Hennessey Performance Engineering plans to build only 100 C7 Corvette Z06 units with the tuner’s HPE850 performance upgrade.

Even in its stock state of tune, the C7 Corvette is quite a formidable performance machine, but that did not stop tuning houses and enthusiasts from pushing the last-generation ‘Vette to its absolute limit. Recently, Corvette Forum member Snipe 97 shared details of his Katech-built C7 ZR1, which was re-tuned to produce a whopping 979 HP of power. Now, Houston-based tuning company Hennessey Performance Engineering has shared specifications of its most recent C7 Corvette program.

Hennessey Performance is a world-renowned Corvette tuner, and the company used an LT4 V8-equipped Z06 to demonstrate the prowess of its HPE850 performance upgrade. Hennessy’s package includes a supercharger setup that adds 200 horses to the sports car’s total power output. The company recently uploaded a video on its official YouTube channel showcasing HPE’s Z06 project.

The car is seen running laps around the company’s private test track during some validation testing while making a sound that can only be described as menacing. As part of its HPE850 upgrade, the tuner will install high-flow cylinder heads, upgraded valve springs, custom camshaft, high-flow intake, new long-tube headers, and a new pulley. In addition to 850 HP of power, the torque figure of the 6.2-liter LT4 V8 is also bumped up to 715 LBFT.

According to Hennessey Performance Engineering, the re-tuned C7 Corvette Z06 can accelerate to 60 MPH from a standstill in just 2.6 seconds. Hennessy also claims that its HPE850 performance upgrade enables the Z06 to make a quarter-mile run in just 10.3 seconds while cruising at the speed of 136 MPH. The company has also announced that it will only be producing 100 examples of the HPE850-equipped C7 Z06s.

If you want to push the envelope even further, HPE also offers an HPE1000 upgrade for C7 customers. This performance package will cut down the 0 to 60 MPH acceleration time to just 2.5 seconds and will allow the car to complete a quarter-mile in just 9.7 seconds at 147 MPH. If customers allow Hennessey Performance to install their performance upgrades, the company will also throw in its 2-year/24,000-mile limited warranty.
