OPTIMA Presents Corvette of the Week: Volcanoes Fear this Blue Devil

2010 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 with Black Chrome Wheels Home

I haven’t been a fan of chrome wheels since 1995, so when the C6 Corvette ZR1 burst its way through the saloon doors in 2009 wearing those loud 20-spoke chrome wheels, things felt discordant. Here comes the first production Corvette ever to poke its stingers through the 200 mph barrier — the first Corvette to produce more than 100 horsepower per liter … a Corvette acting very 21st century, and then, almost as an affront to progress, Chevy dresses the car in those very 20th-century chrome wheels for its big media debut. Shame.

But that shame is easily erased if you dip those rims in black chrome, as 32DUECE (Mark) did with his 2010 Corvette ZR1.

Mark: the world thanks you for reducing light pollution caused by excessive chrome glare. It also doesn’t hurt that you’re rocking Lingenfelter’s 710 horsepower package.

I have a suspicion volcanoes fear erupting, for it might piss off this particular Blue Devil.

Head to the forum for more photos of Mark’s car and other C6 ZR1s with upgraded wheels.
