You Really Need To Check Out This Scale RC Corvette With A Working V8!

By -

In internet terms, this ten year old YouTube video is ancient, but it also proves that a scale RC Corvette is always cool.

We sometimes refer to our Corvettes as “toys.” Because for some of us, they really are. We use them for a youthful joy that we just can’t get anywhere else. But there’s also no denying that Corvette toys are also pretty awesome. Just like this 1/4 scale RC Corvette. And this isn’t your average RC car, this one is really cool.

We stumbled upon this video through RCCarAction, and even though this Corvette build from Quarter Scale Legends is now a full decade old, we still admire it for how detailed it is. No batteries here. This RC Corvette uses pure V8 power. And it also happens to have a supercharger. RC cars don’t get much cooler than that. RC Corvette C4 The mold for the body is clearly based on a pre-facelift C4 Corvette, and even has a removable hood much in the same vein as the C4’s clamshell. It is under that hood where we see the full workings of the V8 which is made by Conley Precision Engines. It’s a fully working “427” V8, although in the video, we don’t get to see it running. We wish we could hear it because a tiny V8 with a blower must sound angry. The supercharger came later. According to Conley’s website, this 427 is an older design. A 609 replaced the entire line of 427 engines.

Sadly, that engine maker retired and sold the business a number of years ago. So its not like you can just pop over to a local store and buy one of these RC Corvettes off the shelf. We couldn’t really find any additional details about things like horsepower or top speed, but for a car like this, the importance of those figures diminishes somewhat. RC Corvette C4 Being remote controlled, the “transmission” will assumedly be an automatic, but the chassis is where the real detail work shows. We can also see the design uses a fully independent rear suspension. Inboard cantilever coil-overs control the rear movement, and up front, wishbones control the front. The whole chassis is tube frame, too. But for a toy, the cool factor of this RC Corvette is off the charts. For the person who simply must collect all things Corvette, this is the ultimate gift to your own yellow C4.
