U.S. News just announced something we knew all along – the Corvette is the best luxury sports car for 2022!

U.S. News defines luxury sports cars as “powerful, fast, and come with upscale interiors.” The list includes 14 cars including cars from Audi, BMW, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, and Toyota. The top five cars are the Audi R8, Porsche 911, Porsche Boxster, and Porsche Cayman, in addition to the Corvette. All of these cars rate highly for their performance and “posh” features, including luxury features and interiors. The 2022 Corvette holds its own in this class. But what sets it apart is its value and everyday usability.

“The 2022 Chevrolet Corvette claims the top spot in the luxury sports car class, thanks to its value proposition, lightning-quick acceleration, precise handling, comfortable and well-trimmed interior, and intuitive tech features.” Says U.S. News. They go on to call it a performance bargain, saying it’s a “must-see if you’re shopping for a luxury sports car.” In their comparison, U.S. News gave it a score of 9.1 out of a possible 10. This score is based on their criteria and reviews from other sources. Performance, luxury, and value rate highly in this comparison. And reviews or awards from peer publications contribute to the scores as well.

U.S. News also evaluates cars based on things that make a difference in ownership. Acceleration, braking, and handling are important qualities. However, safety, reliability, fuel economy, and usability are also considered. Lap times and quarter-mile trap speeds are great for bragging rights. But you’ll get more enjoyment out of a car that doesn’t spend half its time in the shop. Or a car that doesn’t punish your wallet when gas prices spike over $4 a gallon.

Near the end of the Corvette review, U.S. News poses two questions. If you’re on CorvetteForum, you already know the answers, but it’s nice to hear a reputed third party echo the sentiments:

Is the Corvette a good car?

U.S. News describes the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette as “a terrific sports car in just about every measure.” They mention the outstanding performance and handling while noting that the Corvette also offers a quiet, comfortable ride. They also praised the comfortable interior, calling it handsome and sleek. But they noted the kicker is the price. Starting at $61,000 the Corvette costs significantly less than its competition while giving up nothing on its rivals.

Should I buy the Corvette?

U.S. News calls the 2022 Chevrolet Corvette “a must-see if you’re shopping for a luxury sports car.” When compared to the Porsche 911, Mercedes-AMG GT, and Acura NSX, they noted the Corvette can do everything those cars can but at a fraction of the price.

Summing It Up

U.S. News recommends spending a little extra for either the 2LT or 3LT model for the extra features. That added about $8,000 to $10,000 over the $61,000 base price but still a bargain compared to other cars in this segment.

Wrapping up their review, U.S. News summed up the Corvette as a car that goes toe-to-toe on the track with cars costing three times as much. It’s also stunning to look at and equipped with lots of useful features. Performance, price, and everyday practicality separate it from the competition. And they reached the same conclusions as other reviews stating, “There’s no shortage of tantalizing options in the luxury sports car class, but few offer as complete a package as the iconic ‘Vette.”

We couldn’t have said it better ourselves.
