Pls post pics of sub install in storage bin ( 1990 c4)
I just got all my stereo equipment ordered and I want to place the 10" IDQ sub in the passenger side storage bin. Can this be done without really screwing anything up? I would rather not do anything that cant be undone to the bin.
Also, does anyone have suggestions for tweeter placement in a 1990 c4? I am thinking I may just put them in the front bose pods where the stock tweeters were located.
So far my system will consist of:
Blaupunkt Hamburg Headunit (already had it and it has 4volt pre-amp outputs)
Image Dynamics Chameleon 5.25" 2ohm components
Image Dynamics IDQ10 10" dual 4ohm sub
Orion 7005 amp 4x100 + 1x300 at 2ohm

I have pics of a 10" Polk in my 85 at this link. When I had the single sub, it worked great -- so of course I upgraded to two subs

It is possible to remove only the door, but it is difficult (wire/hinge removal). I removed the hinged base and doors, and replaced it with MDF board. That way, it could always go back to original (which I'll never do!!!!).
I have a bunch of install pictures at home I can email to you. On one of my old post I outlined the steps when I had a single sub. I'll see if I can find that link for you.

I just remove the base/doors as a single peice as well. If you could email me those pics it would be great. This is my first stereo installation other than just installing a headunit so I feel somewhat overwhelmed when thinking about it.

I removed the entire storage bin lid assembly and replaced it with 1" MDF; the only thing that can't be undone is cutting the rear carpet. I installed a 10" JL Audio on the pass side and PPI sub amp on the driver's side above the ABS unit. I put 2 layers of Dynamat type material on all internal surfaces of the storage bin for damping. Below are a couple pics; other stereo pics on my forum website which might give you ideas on tweeter location...

Thanks Stalker! The website was sure alot easier than the Vette work!
The battery "box" is just 2 metal battery trays from PepBoys, top one is welded upside-down to the crossmember, then 2 long bolts down thru it pulling up the bottom tray and battery.

I have some pics on here where I left the door on. Do a search on it and I'm sure you can find the links, since I posted them at least twice.

Did you have any sound issues with the door closed(in stealth mode!) or did the sub just pound away under there???

As to the door rattle, have you tried any foarm or silicone bead on the frame or the bottom of the door to snug it better/tighter?

Heres my 10" Alpine. I drilled holes also and don't have any problems with rattles.
