Default Garage: tire storage shelves/racks. Looking for ideas.

I need to free up some floor space in the garage. Did a quick search here on tire storage shelves, but a lot of the pictures are no longer available. Just looking for some ideas in case some of them might save me some time and headache.

Thanks for any help.

Thanks, guys. I had initially planned on making some racks to keep the costs down, but you've got me also thinking about how much my time is worth. I'll count up how many damn tires I've got taking up floor space, and give these things some thought.

Thanks again.

nah those are waaaay overpriced. I have 2 of these. Width adjustable. Each week Fits 4 slicks, 305 sized tight, at full width. Or 3 z06 tires otherwise.

Ive got basically the same one posted above from amazon. I think you can find it under different brand names since mine is gray. Its worked well, but you'll likely need two if you have wider tires.

I went with a standing rack....to mount 4 bigger Vette or Viper sized tires next to each other I'd recommend nothing narrower than 60". Mine looks similar to this in design, but I'm now out to 12' wide and 4 levels since I also store a lot of my truck and SUV tires on the rack. Wheels are inconvenient to store but this gets them out of the way.

If you can mount them on a wall that has studs mounted a few inches further apart than the standard 16 inches then you could get them to hold 2 315/30/18s and 2 345/35/18s. The nice thing about them is they fold up out of the way so I have used them to make folding shelves in front of the water heater. If the water heater needs to be replaced I just unload the shelves and fold them up.

I also have one of these.

It is expandable and easily handles the above mentioned track tires with about 6 inches to spare.

I have two of these mounted on a wall in the garage

https://www.griotsgarage.com/product...ks&from=Search

They aren't cheap but have a nice adjustable track system on it to allow you to mount them where you need to. I have 4 315/18 A7s on them and there's A LITTLE extra room, so you might need to get creative if you're running really wide tires.

I thought about wall mounting, but instead just got a dolly. I stack them up on that.

Climbing up and putting them up on the wall is a pain in the butt.
