Who is the best seatbelt restorer, or who is out there besides SnakeOil and Seatbelt Sity in NJ?

Thanks,

Tom, In the mean time just double knot the rope you have now, just don't try to get out fast. I had Snakeoyle do mine, just to driver conditions, and it was great. You can't tell they have been apart. Dennis

I have to agree with that. He repaired my stainless steel trim around the window, restored my side vents and it all looks like factory new. Awesome work and I would recommend him to anyone.

There is/was a company called SWAS. I think it is/was South West Auto Specialties. Somewhere in Arizona/New Mexico area.

Know NOTHING of the company, just that they used to advertise seatbelt restorations. You might look in Hemmings.

That being said, Snake Oyl and Charlie Santorelli (Seatbelt Sity) do beautiful work. Chuck

I have to have my '64 belts restored as well. I noticed no one mentions any prices. Are we talking $200, $300, $400?

I was quoted between 2 and 300, Haven't decided weather it would be smarter to just buck up the extra $100 and get repo's.

Thanks Tom, I guess I'll have to get a quote so I can compare as well.

That's "SunWest" - poster child for delays, excuses, lost belts and buckles, and shoddy work; horror stories abound for that outfit.

Charlie Santorelli and Snake-Oyl both have excellent reputations.

I was victim of SunWest, took 7 months to get my belts back, over 25 phone calls. Had to call the owner at his law office. Another friend of mine had his belts there over 1 year and had to threaten to write Attorney General to get them back.

64roadster,

I had my 67 laps done by Ssnake-Oyl. My belts looked bad, the buckels, etc had looked like they were dragged across a mine field.
They did a great job and trust me, I'm pretty fussy. I had them done in 98, and the price was approx. 265 with insurance and SH. My shoulders were right in there, but a little less, because there is no retractors, etc. to screw with. Good luck.

I bought my carburator from Karl Roepke at Sunwest (about 7 years ago).
He had posted an ad in the NCRS driveline.
I got a good deal.
I found him to be honest, and friendly.
I usually stop and say hello at all the car shows.
I always thought that when I got around to doing my seatbelts, I'd go to him.
I'm pretty disappointed to find out that others have had a bad experience.
I checked with the BBB, and they have one outstanding complaint against him. (but not in the last 12 months).

Very interesting. Paragon offers seatbelt restoration services. I was told that the waiting list was several months to a year long. It seems the guy whom they sub the work out to is an attorney who does it as a sideline hobby business. Wonder if it's the same outfit?

Thanks Craig, I'm a least 4 to 5 months away from possibly needing them so I guess I'd better get busy.
