a while back i added up receipts.... in the past 2 years, counting the major items and project creep: paint & body work (which i did myself), a/c, 4speed overdrive trans, 3.36 posi rear, rear disc brakes, and now the IFS; i've got about $17K spent. it's getting so i can't afford myself anymore...

radiator is in and hoses connected; hopefully John will let me start it tomorrow....

This is the type workmanship and car you C1 owners need to have the big buck bidders bid $100k for these cars. Look what the Camaro owners did. ProMod Camaro's are bringing big bucks!

Love the motor!

I let him start it (and he even drove it around the block). Other than a couple of "minor" leaks, and oversensitive steering, it meets Bill's expectations. I drove it as well, and think he should be pleased.

He has a potential fix for the sensitive steering, and the leaks should be taken care of tomorrow.

The front end came down substantially with just the short drive, so we did a front end alignment. Our initial ajustments were not that far off (did not even touch the driver's side for caster & camber!, and eyeball toe-in was only 1/4" off).

Default It's Alive.......

we started the car and drove it a mile or so (no fan yet, have interference with lower shroud). i am very pleased so far, still have a few issues to resolve. the steering is VERY light (need to find a way to dumb it up...), and is very quick (will have to get used to that), and have a power steering pump leak (probably on the return line to the pump). car settled another 1-1/2" or so after being driven (may settle a bit more yet), and i'm happy with the ride (spring rate). not sure how happy i am with the front end ride height as i'm used to it being another 1-1/2 " higher (29 vs 27-1/2), but not a lot i can do about that without altering the steering geometry...

Bill, what pump are you running? If it is a generic replacement for a traditional GM system (non R&P) the pressure could be too high which might cause the light steering condition.

it's the 'canned ham' shaped pump, it was what was provided with the 'kit'. i see that Heidt offers an in-line pressure adjustment valve.

i just looked at an older CC catalog, and it seems like a little bit of everybody's IFS; and it looks like all the pieces welded in. not sure if that style is available any more.

the on-line catalog shows what appears to be a Jim Meyer IFS.

Herb, you are jealous??? From the looks of it you will have your car running in a few months.

I could only hope to be completed by the summer of 2008. I bought my parts car in 2001.

From this:

July of 2007:

I am still trying to figure out what motor/transmission I might go with? Plus, maybe an IFS (not sure). Not to mention my wife rolls her eyes at me each time I brought up spending more $$$. Luckily, she told me to get it finished!

50k later...
Maybe my tunnel exit is blocked???

yeah, I know... I keep thinking to myself one day it will happen when I jump in and step on the gas pedal. Just not sure which day that is.
