Best C1 restomod suspension choice.

Best C1 restomod suspension choice.
I have read many threads about the different choices of front and rear suspension choices. Martz, Meyers, TCI, Newman, or changing out the entire frame and installing C4 suspension. Has anyone seen a fair comparison between these choices? I have not read anyone tell what their impressions were after driving one of these restomods. I realize one of the advantages with the Martz ,Meyers, or TCI is that you can use your original frame. How about ride and control or prices? Anyone? Thanks DG

i presume you've seen this thread:
http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show....php?t=1759522
my 2 cents is in that thread.... why no one else has responded to give their results and impressions is beyond me....
the TCI IFS is at the lower end, cost-wise. would i do it again, yes...; but i would seriously consider the MacGyver IFS too. (why didn't i; because i didn't know about it when i scoped out my project)

I went with the complete frame change out and C4 suspension front and rear, and would do it again, even at the higher price. The car corners like a go-cart, and rides real nice.

The challenge in a question like that is the sheer number of variables and the fact that it's a personal choice at the end of the day based on what you're looking for in a car. Even the same style car built with similar features by different builders can be quite a different ride base on how it's setup. Then it's how much money and how far from original you're willing to stray.
What you will most likely here from every person who has done some restomodding is that it will make a huge difference- (especially after they sunk $1000's into their car. ) If we could get a dozen restomod cars together perhaps some real world numbers could be gathered.
I've driven one car with C4 suspension with an LS1 on a Corvette Corrections frame. It was an incredible ride and will spoil ya fast. I have nothig but great things to say about Billy.
I chose to go with an SRIII frame for various reasons as I preferred the coil overs and wanted to some additional flexibility with the design. Plus it looks cool. All the frame setups are close enough dollar wise to make it negligible so it boils down to personal preferences and I'd say the customer service and word of mouth.
Then there are a plenty of us who enjoy the "vintage" feel of an original car and drive it the way it was intended. One or two have even considered unrestomodding there car.
I'd have both if I had the room and money. I'm still lookin for a sugar momma.

i have built both morrison and newman, we switched from newman to r&r frames and we are currently building a 58,60, 62, 63 all with morrison or r&r frames. both handle about the same we looked at corvette corections and passed. r&r frames is in montana very simular to newman but a little less $, better and faster service, easyer to deal with.

I am very happy w/ my Newman frame and C4 suspension. The car is much more fun to drive than I thought it would be. Downside of Newman frame that other companies have addressed is the orginigal X frame member. Makes exhaust system a challenge and transmission removal requires engine pullout. Newman is great to deal w/ as well. Very helpful, knowledgeable, and affable.
