Default Shimming C1 body?

Can it be done? If so, how? I did shim the body on my 79 long time ago and remember it being a real PITA.

Absolutely you can shim a C1 body...many have had to do so to install the Tremec 5-speed. I don't know if there are separate instructions for a C1 but here they are for a C2 (by Noland Adams no less): http://www.lbfun.com/warehouse/tech_...0C2%20Body.pdf

I'm betting the procedures are pretty close for both the C1 & C2...if not I'm sure others will chime in to correct me...

Thanks, I'll try to get some work done over the weekend. Will post results later.

Going by memory, ----------
Main objective is to get the doors aligned.
Shim the middle first. Shim the rear and front to get the doors to align.
My problem was left higher then right. Trial and error and it worked out.

ouch.....I tried to shim up to fit the Tremec in, but the alignment issues were awful. I ended up cutting the tranny tunnel a little instead. Agree with starting in the middle, make sure you do the same height on the opposing side.

also shimming the front under the radiator is often done incorrectly. too low and the fenders bow out at the wheel wells.
