Default 1958 Barn find progress pictures

Last summer I found two 1958's in a barn for sale and sold one to finance putting the other one back on the street. I know it is not correct, I just want a good driver. You can see some pictures here.................................... ..https://picasaweb.google.com/1000838...Mu_1bTsufXF8AE

You've got some sweat equity in that project. Looks good so far. Dennis

Great progress and lots of hard work for sure. The frame in the pics is there a problem with the frame that the car sits on? Also I'm not sure if you are doing yourself any favors by using that old water pump...

The guy that had the car in 1978 wanted disc and coil springs as I understand, so he set the 58 body on a Monty Carlo frame and elected to cut the rear quarters instead of the frame. I will have to repair the quarters soon. He stopped at the point you see it in the pictures and did not put any fiberglass on the quarters which will make it a little easier to repair. As for as the water pump.....I did not use the old one. Look close the painted one is new, but thanks for the advice....

Thanks for sharing the pictures and good luck. Don't worry about whether its correct or not - to each his own. Enjoy the journey.

Looks great! Any idea how many hours into it up to now? I'm curious.

Well, to me it doesn't seem like I have put in too many hours.....but I'm sure if you ask my sweet wife the number would be larger. Ha. I think I have as many hours learning about Corvettes and tracking parts as I have hands on hours. This will be my first Corvette to ride in when I get it ready.

Looks awsome. Did you have an extra frame? What is the body sitting on while you are putting that frame together. Shemp

It appears that you are trying to make the car as correct as possible. If that is the case, and your old water pump is correct casting etc then you can send it out for a rebuild for the same price as a new one.
My local NAPA store did it for me with my 66.....

Chassis is looking great.....

Wow a Monty Carlo frame.. that's impressive that the PO was going to do that.. Glad you went for the new pump..
