Default Leather Steering Wheel Cover

I'm looking for some help with a leather steering wheel cover. I've seen recommendations for Wheelskins. Looks very reasonably priced. Has anyone done this cover themselves? I want to use a C3 15" wheel and put a leather cover on. Could use any help or recommendations on the installation process? The wheels I've seen covered look like there is a layer of foam or something installed before the cover itself?

Thanks
Tom

Tom,

Contact Chuck Pelton here on the forum. I think he'll take care of your needs. He did a wheel for me and I'm very pleased.

Wheelskins is an easy installation. Did it myself. Looks and feels great. If you want padding, just put a cheap one on between the wheel and the cover (and size it accordingly).

After I got mine on, I realized that I probably could have done a baseball stitch instead of the simple one the instructions suggest. Either way looks great!

Tom:

When you're down next time grab hold of the wheel in my 63. It is an 80/81 wheel.

Thanks Bill. I thought about calling Chuck. I have seen his work, Excellent! But, after Christmas I'm lucky to swing the money for the cover much less pay to have it done. I've done all the rest of the mods to the car so I want to do this one as well.

Do you mean another cover first?

Thanks

Default Steering wheel cover.

I put a wheel skins cover on my 58 a couple years back.I looked around and found the best price on Amazon. You measure wheel diameter and thickness of the wheel,it's not foam padded. I think they also send a sewing needle with it. Takes a little over a half hour to lace it up. I had a thin cheap leather cover on so I left it. Feels great on my older hands, doesn't look worn at all.Hope this helps you out. BILL.

I agree completely. Chuck made a padded leather C3 wheel for my 67 and it looks stock. He sent me leather color samples ahead of time to see which was the best match to my stock saddle upholstery. His wheels look so nice on a C2 that I'd wait and save up to have him make up a wheel. And they don't cost THAT much, somewhere north of $150 (a couple of years ago) if I remember correctly.
