A local flea market regular who sometimes comes up with some old Corvette items calls me with some interesting items for 1966 yellow convertible vin#194676S103678. Original owners manual with some info written on the inside cover. There is also what maybe the original certificate of registration dated 11/12/65 also an old title. Anyone here own the car? Have what I believe to be a 1965 327 Corvette motor. Partial Vin is 5117637 . Manual Transmission might also be available. Codes look like F0504HU . Its definitely HU at the end. No idea what happened to the car it originally came out of.
Seems to have the original trap door oil pan. The intake is an old Edelbrock tripower with Rochester carbs (not original). Heads seem to be 3782461. Turns free.
Was taken out of a 60s Firebird 25yrs ago and has been in storage since.
Not sure what is original/ what is not. Was in the family for 40yrs or more. If someone is looking for this VIN let me know. Sale is pending but the guy says he wants to put it into a 32 Ford so I'm sure he isn't attached too much to it if he takes it. If he takes it I'll pass on his contact info if someone is looking for this motor. Located in upstate NY.
Can you PM me? I just joined and can't figure out how to PM you. I don't really want to post my email/ phone # online since last time I did I got tons of scam calls/ emails for years. As far as location I'm up near Salem, NY which is about 1hr north of Albany.
My Pm now seems to be working. I sent you one Rumblegutz. If I read the codes correctly it was a 65 350hp 870 with hydraulic lifters, AC, and a manual transmission from the factory.
Guy now says he's coming tomorrow. If he takes it I'll forward the contact of anyone interested in the VIN motor parts to him.
I'll see tomorrow if the transmission this was attached to has a partial VIN that matches a Vette. I think it was some sort of Muncie. I haven't really looked at it closely in the 20yrs is been stowed away in the storage trailer. I have seen some people somehow figure out the original vin from the partial vin on the motor but have no clue of how to do it myself. Its sad to think the original car may have been scrapped.

Well the guy bought the motor but if anyone ever finds that motor matches their car just send me an email/ Pm. I'll make sure he gets your info. As far as the transmission I have a couple of that type but the one I thought was attached to the motor didn't have any VIN stamped into it. Just the casting info. Can't seem to find where we stowed the other one. Not sure if I am mixing them up or not. If I come across that one and it has the Vette VIN on it I'll let y'all know.
As far as the car the motor originally came out of I think the VINs were either 194375S117637 or 194675S117637 . I couldn't find a record of those VINS when I searched online today but if someone does end up having that car or finding it I might be able to help you locate your original motor.
Looking for the owner of a 1966 Corvette convertible, VIN number 194676S127415, I have all your original paperwork, manual, pro-tecto plate. Would ike to reunite with car, first owner named Taylor, out of Fairborn, OH.
VIN number 194676S127415
NOTE: it appears this person is now called Thefiveshortys here on the CF and has posted this in parts in 5-22.
I recently found this 69 427/390HP engine in the SF Bay Area in California. It was a complete engine but the heads and other parts were not original to the engine.
The pad is stamped: TI106LM 19S736711
194379S736711 would be the complete VIN for a coupe.
194679S736711 would be the complete VIN for a roadster/convertible.
If anybody knows the whereabouts of the car please let me know. I would like to reunite the engine with the car.
