I am building a 60 and after a lot of research decided on a Jim Meyers Racing IFS. I have it installed on the frame , but car is a long way from being done. Fit and finish is excellent though.

I also put the Jim Meyers Racing IFS under my C1 but have not had it on the road yet. The fit, and construction was excellent and the installation went very smoothly. Quality piece.

I have the Jim Meyer IFS in my ‘61 with power r&p steering and disc brakes. It is fantastic!

I does lower the front about 1”, so I installed composite springs with lowering blocks in the rear. It also requires two small welds one on each side to secure a bracket. I think you will be very happy.

Nice looking '61! Perfect stance and great choice on the wheels.

Here is a link to a 240 page ebook I put together on the build of my ‘60. The ebook is free to download.

JMR front and rear suspensions. Look on the JMR web page, that is my car you first see...

I installed a Fat Man in my 57. He said that it would not fit but with a 3" sq. tube between the kit and the frame it worked out well.
I am not sure how well it takes the corners as I completely restored the entire car and I am not ready to meet a guardrail or tree.
It does ride very good t

hough.

What are the benefits of swapping out an IFS with another IFS? I realize the original one is old tech and crude compared with the new ones. In my case the 57 parts are in great shape and already converted to disc brakes, how much improvement would really notice?

.....in my case coil overs instead of coil springs - rack and pinion steering instead of the horse and buggy system that is stock - disc brakes and a whole bunch of weight reduction. Just sayin

I had a C4 IFS installed in my 62 last year added an Ididit steering column, Car now handles almost like my C5. I can recommend this upgrade, I looked at the Jim Meyer and the Martz setups and decided to stick with an all Corvette system. I am having the IRS installed this winter.
You will not believe how the old Vette handle after this upgrade. Added bonus is the larger brakes and power steering. I added a Tremac 5 speed from Silver Sport, they have a kit for C1 Corvettes that works very well.

What ever you decide will be a big improvement.
Good Luck,
Marty

Hey Scotty,

Obviously, technology has developed over the years, but I too, still run the original front end with a disc brake conversion on it. The car drives straight and steers very nicely.

Also have the old school technique of lowering the front end (cutting a coil).

I guess i like my 50's 60's cars to feel like 50's 60's cars (for the most part). C5's are cheap, I'll buy one if i want an "old" car that handles great. Thanks.

That looks like the conversion Paul Newman used to do.

Coffman Corvette in Mansfield, OH did the installation. He cut the frame at the firewall and built a new front suspension. Hope you can make out what went on, I could not get good pictures.
