What is a mother to do ?
If you drive or wash the car these tags go to hell in a handbasket - all this angst over a simple precaution is amusing...
Next we'll debate about car covers and car wax...
Good grief!

A stupid question, but why does that tag exist at all? I removed mine immediately and can’t remember it having any significance.

Its to let the uninitiated know to read the manual and learn how to store the top so they don't scratch the living crap out of the plastic rear window ....that's all.. Back in the days of my used car dealings I'd seen people put purses and even tools in the top well and fold the top down on it...
Its like washing instructions for your favorite dress shirt (which I also remove if its irritating)...

That’s what I thought, Frankie. Seems like they could have put it in a different location that isn’t so obnoxious like stitched into the window edge on the inside of the car. I would have left the tag on if it had been placed there.
Placed on the outside, it’s going to be gone after a couple of rainstorms. But, maybe that was the intent . . . to deteriorate and disappear once the car’s owner has had an opportunity to read it.

Prob thought they needed to make the tag as in-your-face as possible. I'm constantly flabbergasted at the people that buy a new car and don't read the manual. Like the C7 owner(s) that burn to death in a fire because they don't know there's an emergency release door lever....
If that tag was on a new car sort top today it'd also have to be in Spanish no doubt...

In “the good old days” you could read the manual in 10 minutes. The tomes they put in cars today are several inches thick.
The library of manuals that came with our 2013 Lexus RX hybrid were so big, they wouldn’t fit in the glove box. Had to carry them in the trunk.

Car is never going to be judged! Some of us just like things as they came, I thought that was a part of being an individual. I appreciated the actual suggestions to my question!

A magnet - with a paper tag and a vinyl top ?

Back when I was "ate up" with this kind of crap, I went to my local print shop, and had a couple of dozen printed on the correct weight paper, with the correct colors (faded red), and then took them home and "stitched" a line of the correct color thread, and correct spacing on to the paper. I would keep them in a baggie, in the glovebox. These pictures are 57/57 tags, with beige thread. When I would get to the judging field, I would use a couple of very small blobs of clear silicone, line up the stitching, and "stick" them on the top. Never lost a point. The last time I had the 57 judged, was the National in Galveston TX, and scored a 97.4, plus driving points.
I did the same thing with other years, but the 57 was extra tricky because it had the stitching going through the paper.

Yes, to the metal bow below. I've used a plastic badge 'envelope' and two small magnets for 15 years. I was initially concerned they might pop off on bumps, but they stick tight. No residue, no muss no fuss.

Steve, bought my wife a 2019 Lexus RX450h. The manual was 741 pages. The worst infotainment system ever created.

We’ve had an RX 350h and an RX 450h. Both had a library of owner’s books that were huge. But 450 was the worst. No one could read all of that. I just used them as reference material.
Technology is great but it can also be a big PITA.

Don't want to hijack the thread but when it takes 6 steps to change the clock, someone should be fired for designing something so user unfriendly.
