Default Convert Top Tag

Somewhere I remember reading about laminating the outside top tag, does anyone know where I might have seen this. I checked the archives back to 2016 and found nothing.
Thanks

I don't know if this information is viable, but I saved the contact information for a company that was making a laminated plastic cover to put over the convertible top tag. It's worth a try.

The company that makes these is Lone Star Restorations in Portland, OR.

You don't have to go anywhere special - all the bigger vendors carry them:

Will they fit the "Do Not Remove" tags on mattresses as well?

Ok tried two of Paragons plastic top tag covers, heated them up so as to have to wear gloves to handle it. Followed the directions and still broke both of them! Paragon has no answers, and Lone Star Restorations is out of business. Can someone please shed some light on this problem? What am I not doing right? Will heating a piece of laminate paper work?

You can buy the material you need at places like Staples or Office Max

Default tag protector

I bought name tag holders at Staples. I think they came pack of 20 for $2.99. They fit perfectly.

Default tag protector

Convertible Top Tag Protectors must be heated to the point of being ply able. a heat gun is recommend . A blow drier may not deliver enough heat.
instructions are provide with cover. Feel free to give me a call at 800-882-4688. I will send you a replacement at no charge.

LOL.....my personal thoughts on the top tags is that I would cut mine off. I think they are unsightly.

Get a couple of pieces of clear vinyl, cut to size, stitch up with your wife's sewing machine on three sides. Make loose enough to take on/off.

The first thing I did after my new top was installed was to remove the tag. I understand the importance for judging but, to me, it’s like wearing a new shirt with the tags left on.

A couple of years ago there was an article in the "NCRS Restorer" on repurposing the clear name tag holders we get when attending conventions, seminars, etc. Made my own using this technique and it works fine. In the article you use a holder close to the size of the label and cut one side to aid in installing over the label on the top. Author recommended buying a new replacement label to cover the one on the top and sandwich it in the holder (these labels tend to rapidly sun-fade). A piece of masking tape doubled over holds the back of the holder to the conv. top material.

Ya but wouldn't the plastic take away from the originality and cost points?

The tags are just paper. So, the first time it gets wet it has a good chance of falling off. Even with the protector the edge that is sewn in will get wet and eventually come off.

Thanks Guys;
In using the name tag holder does it flop against the top and the deck lid when driving?

I use a piece of double face tape behind it to hold it against the top and it doesn't flip around when I drive. Get to a show and it comes right off.
