Default Where to find a replacement capacitor

While wrapping my AC tubing with insulated tape I noticed this was disconnected. My soldering iron is long gone or else I would have tried to solder it back but I think that would only be short term fix. I'm wondering where can you get a new one if anyone has any suggestions. This came off the blower motor.

Long Island Corvette Suppy also lists the item.

Epoxy the old lead on there. The repros look nothing like the original wax paper capacitors.

Hi Frankie,
Are you saying its ok to just epoxy this back together? Never heard of that but willing to try it. I have plenty of 2 part epoxy.

any corvette with a radio used them until 82. along with some passenger cars. not that hard to find used. YOU can NOT epoxy that back together and expect heater to work

Buy a cheap soldering gun for a few dollars and some electrical solder. Then wrap bare soldered joint with 2 layers of electrical heat shrink. Cheaper than buying a new capacitor.

You can test it with many multimeters to see if it is still good.

It is not needed for most car functions except AM radio, so you can do without it if you want. Or buy a new one from sources posted above. What Frankie said was just for cosmetic purposes.

If all else fails and you MUST have it, send it to me and I will repair it and test it and return it to you. No cost.......except your postage to me. But it may or may not still be good inside........I don't rebuild/repair that.

The picture is pretty dark and it's hard to know for sure about that capacitor. It appears to be a feed-through capacitor which means there has to be continuity between the two leads for your heater blower or AC-whatever to function. IOW, you can't Bubba a cosmetic repair with epoxy.

Larry's offer is a nice one; I suggest you take him up on it.

Thanks for doing that.

What I wrote earlier is accurate about the need for continuity between the two leads. If doing a repair on the capacitor is too much trouble, then cut and splice those two wires together, eliminating the capacitor. The blower motor will work fine altho there may be some slight motor whine in the radio.

One other thought: Since the connectors on those two leads appear to have complimentary genders, it's possible the connector from the under-dash harness would mate directly with the blower motor and you wouldn't have to repair anything. It's worth a look.

Most probably should. The harness would be the same for a no radio car.

Frank your missing the point. This one is a jumper that goes between the engine harness and then plugs into the blower.

That capacitor works differently than the other radio capacitors. The 12v is fed to the fan through the capacitor and the filter works internally from the source voltage to the clip that holds it to the heater case (ground). His fan has to be inoperative unless he has the orange wire that normally plugs into that capacitor harness connected directly to the power lug on the fan case.

In which case I wouldn't monkey around with the old one; buy a serviceable repro...
