I read something a couple years ago about a US company starting up to make radial look alikes to bias tires. Also read that Coker was going to be the distributor. Later, I read it was going to be DiamondBack.

Coker has been advertising a radial tire with bias-ply appearance. they look a lot different than those however.

I have had the Coker Bias/Radials on my 57 since last summer; I love them so far. They look right, balance well and I've had them up to 100MPH with no issues.
Only time will tell how they hold up.

I doubt if Diamondback actually manufacturers them. They are likely a "private brand" manufactured for Diamondback by an actual tire manufacturer. This is common in the tire industry. Didn't Sears used to sell their own private brand tires - Allstate?

My mother had a friend years ago who worked for Armstrong. He claimed that when they were casting the Sears/Allstate tires they had better quality compounds than most of the Armstrong tires.
Just what I heard, no facts to back it up.

Auburn Premium by Diamondback
Good stuff, thanks for the pics. Decided to go with the Diamondback III (BF Goodrich Advantage T/A Radial Sport) 215/770/15, which is made by Michelin. Michelin discontinued the "defender".

I agree with you on this, news to me if they are a tire manufacturer now. I could not find anything on the net regarding Auburn tires.

Thanks for the report. I’ve thought about trying some bias ply tires out but saw those also. Curious about their quality.

All tires sold in the US has to meet DOT regulations. All tires have DOT stamp on them. I use a set of Hankooks as an example: DOT T7XC HBH4415. The first two numbers (T7) or letters or a combination is the plant code for where they were made and the manufacture. The last four numbers are when the tire was made. The first two numbers are the week of the year and the last two numbers are the year ( example 44Th week of year 2015). The plant code can be found at: http://WWW.tiresafetygroup.com/tire-...ted-plant-code There is all kinds of information about what all the others codes are on the outside of the tire. With those two digits after the DOT stamp you can identify who the Auburn manufacture is by the plant code.

So I am curious about where the tires DiamondBack sells under the name Auburn came from and who manufactured them. Can someone who has these tires check out the DOT code, the first two letters or numbers after the DOT stamp.

Interested in a set of tires from Diamond Back to put on my '65 coupe. Normally I go with Michelin Defenders; no longer available. Offered several other brands, BFG, Toyo and Auburn Premium. Anybody riding on a set of Auburn Premiums now and can provide any feedback?
Thanks!
