for those that are interested in DBtires I would go to their website , and read their history as well as their process of vulcanizing, White , Red, Blue or Gold lines on to name brand tires.

From their own molds--not a tire that's been altered

14decoys, can you look at those Auburn tires for the DOT mark and tell us what the first two letters or numbers are?

Thank you.

Thank you 14decoys for the great picture of the DOT code. Plant code 59 identifies the manufacture as the S.R. Tire Co. LTD in Thailand. Those beautiful Auburn tires are made in Thailand.

Traction is fine, tires are quiet no issue with road noise. The only other tire I've ever had on the car are the Uniroyal Tiger Paw's with the whitewall going that disgusting browny color however they drove well. the Auburns are equally as good.

I read on that the Auburns are made in Thailand..................that wouldn't surprise me.

If the Auburn tires are made in Thailand it is because they are cheap for Diamondback, So why are they so expensive? How much quality control can they have over a manufacturer in Thailand? Personally I will stick with American tire makers, even if some of their tires are made in foreign plants, the tires they import are subject to their quality control and their brand reputation. I worked in one of Goodyears plants for about ten years and saw the tires being built and the quality inspection processes. I won't put my life and my cars safety on tires made in third world countries.

It sounds like most Toyo tires are made in White Georgia USA, although they can be made elsewhere. My DBII 205/75R-15 5/8'' WW tires made by Toyo just arrived yesterday. When I get them mounted and drive the car I will post the results. All of the reviews that I have read about the DBII have been positive.

Any pics? I’m getting ready to place an order with DB given the browning issue with the cheap whitewalls on uniroyals. Why did you go with DB II vs the Auburn’s?

The Auburn is probably a good tire and I like the look of the tread design. My reason is the DB II is a Toyo tire which is a proven tire with lots of good reviews. The Auburns are a tire I am unfamiliar with and couldn't seem to find much information on them... That is my only reason. It will be a while before I have pictures, but if you search Corvette Forum you will find pictures of them from other owners.

Thanks. I get it. I’m going to order one of the two today. My other decision is whitewall width. Currently my firestone 380’s have about 3/4” and I believe originals were 5/8”. Probably won’t matter.

Just remember that is about a 22% difference in WW width. If you want to see the difference do a lookup on 66-67 NCRS cars. Most of them have 5/8 WW. There is a difference.

My brown walls were 3/4'' and my DB II are 5/8'' I would have probably kept the 3/4 if they would stay white, but as long as I was spending money on new tires I wanted the original WW width.

I just checked out a few pics. Here’s one from proteam. I like the look of the tire (looks like bias ply) and if 5/8” looks fine. I have bias ply hanging on the original rally wheels. Always like that look but they obviously drive like crap. I’m leaning towards the Auburn’s.

You said you would stick with an " American Brand" does this include "Coker White Wall Tires" ?

I prefer major brands who have a good name to protect. Not having much info on Cokers, I would still take them over an unknown from Thailand. Two things you should always buy the best quality you can are brakes and tires. Cutting corners on these can kill you.

You make a sound point but a far cry to claim buying Diamondback Auburn Premium tires is cutting corners at all. I'll accept your claim if someone who has bought and tried these tires gives their opinion as a bad tire. Would imagine there are many happy customers using these tires that can kill you as you put it. ( I personally, as a user think they are fine in every respect )
I stand to be corrected by other users of the above tire for their opinion.
