I know there's many vets in this group so I thought I'd share this here. I've been going through my sister's possessions and found a horde of patches. Many are military related and I thought I'd offer any of them to group members. If you see one you'd like, just send me an email and I'll mail it to you. And to add some relevant content, here's a pic of my car with the original motor next to the 406 I built.
I am sure the right Vets will appreciate the gift. Was / is your sister in the service? I have most of the patches from my tour, but I am sure they will bring good memories to the boys that served in those units. Our thanks for thinking about the Vets.
Looking at these, definitely belonged to a guy, I am sure that some directly relate to ones Service, but they are too varied of a collection, some don't go along with a typical career to be all related to one guy. I think someone just liked collecting cool patches, but some are pertinent to his service. I say Vietnam, and attached to Air wings, I saw a Carrier, and maybe he collected some of the carrier escort ships, and systems patches of like the missiles they loaded could be a possibility too. He pretty much has one for each type of plane of that era. The Airborne is out of place totally, so maybe just thought it was cool, also the one at the very bottom left. If these were for one guy, he was a lifer, having been on so many carriers. There are some support patches, from Government Contractors there, we used to pass out our Company logo for good will, advertising, loyalty, etc.. Everyone loves Swag! On a family picture wall, it can be cool to do a simple military shadow box display of the specific service related things. This would be hard to figure out, as the internet research would be difficult without knowing some specific duty stations, ship deployments., could be done with effort. Had to be an ex, Husband? Boyfriend? No I don't want them, as I get weirded out, about someone elses trophies, unless a family member.
Youre the only other guy that I have seen, that runs Ford Rotundas. Thumbs!

As a 24 year USN guy, I was thinking along the same lines as you. I'm no airdale, but here's my guess - the collector might have been some rating like an AZ - Aviation Maintenance Administrationman where he could have served on multiple carriers with his squadrons or wings, and with different airframes and on shore in places like Adak AK. Could have traded for the few mismatches, like Airborne. Pretty neat collection.
Really cool 60s to 80s Navy aviator patches. Lots of memories for me - thanks. A lot of those guys are leaving us now. A unique bunch. Nice of you to offer them.
The guy probably was early on stationed at Adak, as who would re-enlist and pick that God forsaken place. Then he served on Carriers, different air wings, but on the supply/repair side. The clue would be what Cruiser (two shown), were with what carrier, to figure out what deployments. Definitely a 20-30 year guy. The Logistical support probably was when he got some rank, and maybe headed up that division, thus interacting with the various Government Contractors and plane manufacturing.

That is pretty cool, and a generous offer. The USS Enterprise patches appear to be from between 1965-1976; that's the period when she was designated CVAN-65 (as opposed to CVN-65).
what heads are on the engine on the left? also, i like the color of the car, tom.
The heads are Gen 1 Trick Flow twisted wedge with Crane Magnum rockers. I have nothing to compare them to but they certainly seem to breathe quite well. The engine is a 406 with a roller cam using OEM lifters and related parts.
The color is 1978 vette yellow. When I was first restoring it in 1977, I was going to paint it the 65 vette yellow. It was originally a silver car and I don't like silver at all so i was going to stick with a correct color for the year. But then before I pulled the trigger, the 78 vettes came out with that bright a$$ yellow and I loved it

No 'guy'! As I said in first post, it was my sister's collection and she was never in the military, just a collector.. She had even more law enforcement patches from all across the country. Police, sheriffs, state troopers etc. I believe she got many of the military patches from a boyfriend that worked for the Navy, mostly at Jacksonville if I remember correctly. He would have been in his thirties at the time.
What a generous offer ! I sure would like The Forrestal Patch and the Tonkin Gulf Yacht Club patch if they havent been spoken for, will send email. Thanks for posting this!

Great collection, and very decent of you to offer them out. I've got patches from my service, mounted and framed, and in one of the garages. Interestingly, for me, no one cares; not the kids, nor grandkids, nor anyone else. They only mean something to me.
