Cleaning the California Car Duster
I have been using the California duster after every drive home and I don't have to wash the Vette for weeks (use Zaino Z-6 after every wash and the dust is EASILY removed with the duster)
Now after 2 years the duster is getting dirty and I remember the posts on this board stating it cleans better when the duster has been used and is dirty
and you shouldn't clean it as it will remove the paraffin. Has anyone used Woolite --- I hear it works?
Or should I just buy a new one.
Thanks
Bill

I slid mine off the handle and threw in the laundry machine. Then in the dryer to re-fluff. Seems to still work fine.

They have a wax coating of some kind that grabs the dust. Washing the duster cleans it, but removes the wax and it won't pick up dust as well. That's what I found after I washed mine. Spraying it with Endust helps, but it still doesn't work as well as before I washed it.
You might go ahead and wash it and see how it works, but be prepared to buy a new one.

I have a bunch of them - when they get grungy, I wash them in Woolite and cold water, rinse, and air-dry. Hot water will strip off the paraffin that picks up the dust, and so will a dryer (and your wife won't like the paraffin spots on the next load of HER stuff she puts in the dryer).
