I take back what I said...I really like this a lot! I would like it even more if atleast the "outline" of the orginal headlight covers were still there. I just think when you "smooth it" all out, there is too much blank open space.

Dave
i took the toughness when i was doing mine but all in all...... it all worked out in the end.....

i would use the headlight covers as a template and make a some "flat" stock first then glass that in ...instead of trying to glass the entire opening on the car........

Thanks Chris. By the time it gets done, I think there will be enough eye-catchers to minimize the blank look on the nose. The grills will be custom and will also be matched at the opening of the hood scoop. Trying to minimize the bling while still showing the personality (shark on steroids) of the beast. Now if I can only finish making my vision solid.

No prob...and once you get it done, I actually may be able to see it in person. I am down in Paducah every once in a while picking up sick babies at either Western Baptist or Lourdes. I am about 3 1/2 hours from you.

The last time I think that kit was available was in the early 80's from Ecklers. They look good when done. But you might also go on the look out for the grill as Ecklers also produced custom grills just for this purpose that looked great. From my best memory they came in either round tube or flat fin style like would be on say a 73 Corvette. Back in the 70's a friend purchased a fiberglass 73 nose and cut it up and did some more fiberglass work to it and removed the front bumper and put that on instead. From memory I think it was an 8 in increase on the front nose. It was dang sharp.

Good thought SRR. I have already purchased new chrome grille trim for 68-69 models. The way I'm fitting the buckets, the outside will not look any different than a 69. I still have my original (71) center grille and will use it as a jig to form a replacement out of some type open mesh. I have not decided which will look best just yet. The same pattern will work flipped upside-down at the ram air opening on the hood scoop, to give some continuity and balance to the overall look. The mesh might be stainless or powder coated black, not sure yet. As stated earlier, I want to minimize bling, but still have a "finished" look to it. My thought was to cover the lights with smoke plexi-glass slightly angled to the center of the car to help turn the air to the radiator. Have a lot of engine to cool.

The Chrome bumper makes it look like it has a "brow" to it. I can see why it looks better!

Make sure there won't be any headlight height legal issues in your area before you do all of that work.

I'll take that as my cue to exit, but the entire thread has been in response to OP's original inquiry. Suggest you read post #9 and #10, take two pills and come back when you graduate from moderator academy.
