Default ZZ4 oil change/questions

All,

Bringing home my '72 that has a new ZZ4 with <500 miles. Going to give it an oil change before driving it from Greensboro, NC to Annapolis, NC...about 250 miles.

Planning on putting 10W-30 in. How much and is this a good oil for this amount of miles.

Have read that the suggested oil filter is a Delco PF-35 or PF-25...thoughts?

Also, any special recommendations or cautionary advice for the trip home on I-85/I-95?

Thanks.

I used 10W-30 Royal Purple in mine, I also bought a K&N oil filter, I think an HP-2002 but I don't remember. I noticed when I changed to the RP oil my oil pressure shot way up. I'm not sure why or what was in there before but I noted it.

I had a ZZ4 in my '69 Camaro and ran 5W-30 regular Castrol GTX. It had like 70psi cold and 40+ psi warmed up sitting at idle. Since the ZZ4 has a roller camshaft and I see you are in Maryland I would go 5W-30.

I've been using a 5w-30 Mobil 1 in mine since day 1. No problems.

I always run a 10w40 in my engines, but that is due to the heat down here in Louisiana. I think you will be fine with a 10w30.
