What year and how much?

I bought my numbers matching '71 Convertible in 1996. I posted a picture of the ad for it, from '96, below (notice the '69 Pace Car Camaro convertible for $17,950 and the Chevelle SS for $11,950). I would never sell it, but it's probably worth somewhere in the low 20s. To be honest, I don't really keep track of the C3 prices.

What year is your C3 and how much did you pay for it? Included in this what condition and what mods were done to it? Finally how much would you sell it for right now in its current condition? I think with a thread like this if we get enough responses it can really give people an idea how much to really pay for a C3 Corvette.
I paid $5,750 for my 1976 L48 3spd fair to good condition.
I would sell it for $10,000 right now given I have swapped a LT1/T56 into it along with side pipes and a nice paint job. I wish I had a pic to post, maybe next month

Melting Slicks
1970 Coupe, 350/300. Bought from a little ol'lady in '97 for $8500 (too much). Car had 46k original miles on it, had been hit once in right front and was resprayed Ontario Orange from the original Donnybrooke Green.
I did a 'rolling restoration' on it, front suspension, rear suspension, brakes, engine, then repainted it yellow and put a 4-speed in it. Now in the process of repainting it the factory green. Car is stock but I did 'decompress' it by putting 9.5;1 hyper pistons in it over the stock 10.25:1 ones, just enough to get the CR down so I could run non-premium gas.
When the paint is finally done it might be worth 20k on a good day and I will probably start shopping it around so I can go get another project to work on. It's been a lot of fun though and a C3 Vette is IMO just about the coolest AFFORDABLE car out there. For the money they really are hard to beat.

3/01/12 Bought my '70 L46 for $12.5k, seller wanted $14,500 for it. Car has many options, PS, PW, AC, PDB, Tilt, deluxe leather interior, am/fm. Numbers matching, no rust. It was in decent shape but needed a lot of TLC. It has aftermarket headlights (but included originals) though I may have to repaint the whole car to get them put back in correctly and match. After a bunch of new interior parts and chrome bits, Vintage air Gen IV, borgeson kit, and Dewitts radiator/fans, I have about $18k in it. It would probably be worth about $15k as it sits, maybe $18k after being repainted and all the 'bugs' worked out. But that doesn't matter because I can't wait to drive it and enjoy a 'new' '70 Corvette...
Picking it up:
New pics coming soon as work gets completed...

Bought my numbers matching, low miles, 1975 L48, January 6, 2012 from my neighbor across the street. Paid $5500. Insured it for $9000 (maybe too little).
I put about $1,000 into freshening the interior: new stereo & amp/sub/speaker box, new carpet, Dyanamat/Reflectix, redyed interior pieces, etc.
PO put on new fiberglass nose and tail, true duals, and warmed cam. The more I drive her, the better she runs (must be the premium gas and racing synthetic oil ).
I've got new tires to throw on this weekend and have nearly all the electrical bugs worked out (reverse lights, shouldn't be too tough -- sending unit / tach issue, might be tougher).
I've already turned down $10,500... Might regret that later, but I sure don't now.

Think I overpaid $18k for my '68 vert in Nov 2010. Has non original 327 motor and color, and an entirely new front clip, but does have PO's receipts back to 1998 totalling $12k spent on rebuilding/replacing the bits on it that didn't work. Most importantly it was exactly what I was wanting at the time.

74 L82 for $3500 fair condition. Replaced calipers and brakes, stripped paint, miner body work done, In primer phase now waiting for paint. Pulled smallblock converted to big block car. Total so far put in car excluding cost of car $2000. Memories with family and friends during this build and resto priceless.

Found my 1970 in a guy's driveway under a pine tree. The original starter grounded out so he left it sitting there. I found out about the Corvette through a friend and bought it for $8000 in 1993.
It's #matching Car. 454, 4speed w/ 3.70 positraction. It had a Holly 650/adapter plate on it, but the owner gave me the original carb in a paper bag. I rebuilt the Carb, Alternator and Starter and it fired right up. Replaced the brake caliper's and trailing arm's. Installed a new medium saddle interior and found the original paper work and registration's of the two prior owner's stuffed in a produce bag in the Jack compartment. It even had the F-70 Good Year spare tire still in the tub.
Stripped off the Candy Apple Dead paint and went back with the Monza red color.
The Corvette also came with the hard top and factory side exhaust.
A friend of mine recently sold his 1970 Corvette with the same option's for $32k. So I'd say mine would be in the same general price range.

Bought my '82 Collector Edition as a bank repo for $6K last fall. It was all original except the tires and radio. Rebuilt the throttle bodies, purchased new tires and have embarked on a slow restoration on the interior. Have around $7K in it now and having the time of my life.

My Girl
1978 Silver Anniversary. Purchased Feb 2008 on Ebay. Went back and forth with seller a few times. Paid $3500. The engine is from a 73 Monte. Paint is a 10 footer. Interior was decent. The engine has been rebuilt....everything works, way too many things done to list, all by a friend. New seat foam and covers, new carpet...painted everything else inside (done by my brother and myself). Put in a new radio and speakers (my brother). I have never added it all up...it was the toy I always wanted. My youngest LOVES it I could never dream of selling it, its all his one day. Sometimes I just open the garage, dust her off and enjoy the sight of her in my garage.

78 Bought March this year. Paid $2800 plus a S&W 9mm for it. Wife had always dreamed of owning a Corvette and now she has one. Brakes almost done then on to the rest. Don't care what I put into it or what someone else will pay. She has her "Dream" car. It will stay even if we get another in the future.

Paid $25k for mine 8 years ago. NADA figures it has gone up 80% ($20k) since then. Spent another $28k hard money in parts and outside labor. Also too many hours of my own time and other soft costs to mention. Still not done restoring it...mostly original paint, chrome and interior. Have it insured for $60k agreed value. Would not willingly sell it for less than $70k (what a twin Monaco Orange coupe just sold for at Mecum Kissimmee) so I may be holding on to it for some time to come. I really want to just keep it in the family and pass it on.
As a side note...the first vette club show I went to some 10 years ago, I asked one of the owners if any of the cars were for sale. He told me they all were, with a smile on his face and a twinkle in his eye. He obviously meant to add...for the right price.

Thats what they go for. I just went to a car show tonight, guy had a mint 79 asking 19,000 for it.
My car looked fine until you looked hard. Like I said in another thread everybody has a different view of what is perfect.
So smart guy tell me how does it work. And lets keep it real.
