I hate people like this. Ive noticed alot more scammers on Forums lately. It used to be that only Craigslist had the scammer and you could usually count on someone on a forum being legit but the scum bags have found a way to infiltrate the trust of forum members.
He didn't actually join the forum, I guess he just saw the ad, saw that I wanted the item and copied the pictures. I was expecting to hear from the seller anyway so my suspicion was not raised. Weird thing is, it looks like I texted him first(my texts are in green). I get pretty busy during the day, sometimes I bid on and even buy things and forget all about it until the box shows up. At least he only beat me out of $20. He even tried to get me twice! Bastard.
I didn't snap to the name until I saw that Kevin had said the items were still for sale this morning, since I was under the impression I'd already paid. Some folks paypal address is the name of a family member, so it is not unusual. If I didn't watch the "For Sale" section so close I may have forgotten all about it; after all it's a $20 item I don't really NEED just figured they might come in handy. It is not unusual for me to buy stuff and forget until the box shows up, as I have a bit of memory loss from a minor stroke. It's like Christmas!

Richard, thank you for the heads up on this guy and this issue. One of the reasons we struggle is we don't always connect with the account name and the persons real name and it has caused me grief in the past. I tried using my name in the account for a while and got more junk mail than I ever wanted so I switched back to an account name but always felt best when my name was my CF account name. But the scammers are using that to hack all sorts of accounts now too, just ask anyone that is active on Facebook.
I have limited my purchasing now to folks I know. Yes it limits availability, but it also eliminates being scammed because you don't do that to friends. This is a Corvette Community with a lot of very nice people which makes it ripe for scammers to hop in and do their dishonorable deeds.
Sorry this happed Richard, and I'll learn from you on this one.
He even tried to ding me twice, what a dick. It was not a big loss, but could have been. I just wanted to make sure my Corvette brothers don't get bit. He probably does hundreds of little $20 scams because on twenty bucks, who's really paying close attention?
Looks like my luck has changed! Sieur Bertrand, André Chautard, childless widow and member of French parliament died at age 110 and left me €562,454.12. I'm in the money!!!
