Hardtop-Removable Wanted for 1969 Convertible
I'm searching for a 1969 removable hardtop.
Hoping for one in very-good to excellent condition.
Prefer a black vinyl covered top, but will consider a painted one. Preferrably no rips of tears in the vinyl, but will consider one needing recovered. A painted top needing reconditioned/repainted is ok.
The rear window's date is important to me and is on the lower left of the rear window, under the LOF's words "Plate", or Flo-Lite". The date is a 2-character, alpha code. I'm looking for a top with a code of TV, AV, YV, or CV. It can be hard to find & see.
I know this is very specific, but I'm looking for a top that will eventually be judged on my car by the NCRS.
Lastly, I'm willing to travel for a top within 300 miles of Pittsburgh, Pa..
Thanks much for reading, and any help that you can give.

P.S.
I think you are only judged on the top you present the vehicle with. Maybe someone could let us know for certain.
So if your convertible top is correct an of good quality I think you can present the car that way to NCRS.
Anyone got correct info on this?

ttt still looking for the described hardtop. thx
xxvette,
You are correct. The current NCRS "Judging Reference Manual" states: 1956-1975 and 1986-2004 convertible models shall be displayed with their tops up or with their hardtops in place if they are so equipped. Only one top will be fully judged."
I am sttill looking for a '69 hardtop, that is correctly dated to my car.

The date code is the 2 letters. You can google LOL date codes. 1st letter is the month, 2nd is the year. Is that "YJ" in the first picture? That one has me head scratching according to the site I looked at. It was Oct of 65, 78, or 90 something. Cannot read the codes on the others.

I'm not sure what you mean about flipping the photo on the first pic, but the code YJ for 68-75 does not exist. My info also says that JY = May, 1972.
Can you please clarify the coding of the glass in the second photo, it's obscured by the smudge over the code. It looks like it could be XX, but I'm just guessing. It could be a code that I do have serious interest in. Thank You.
The third photo appears to be code II, which is June, 1975. If that's correct, then it is one of the very last hardtops made for the 68-75 era.

I took the photo from the other side, so the original photo was backwards. I use my phone app to flip the photo - mirrored it, but I didnt think about the numbers being backwards.
I think it is VV, ill have to move some things to get to it and will later tonight. I did see that you were on the east coast,, and I am in Boise Idaho.. ill ship,, probably best thru Fastenal or similar.. but you may not be interested.

I located this chart and used it to verify my original TY for my 1972 Sunflower Yellow Convertible heading to NCRS in April.
I hope you find it useful.

Alwyn678,
I don't know if you shop on eBay, but there are vinyl covered hardtops for sale in Woodstock, Ga. (fair cond.), and Ocala Fla. (exc. cond). If you are looking for any particular date code range, you would have to contact them as dates aren't mentioned in their listings.

AllC34me,
Thanks for the great info.
Best of luck with your judging. I hope to be doing the same within the next year. Hope you can attend our chapter's NCRS Regional meet in Altoona in June. It should be a good one.
I've sent you a pm.
