Here's what the site says, "A total of 15,283 Vettes had the two-tone anniversary paint job. For a lot more money, buyers could purchase the Limited Editon Indy Pace Car with distinctive black over silver paint and red striping. Equipment in this package (RPO Z78) included special silver interior with new lightweight seats, special front/rear spoilers, 255-60-15 tires on alloy wheels and glass roof panels."
The P225/70-15 was the "standard" tire for the "non-Pace Cars". You could get either tire on the Silver Anniversary, but I'm not sure if you could get the P255's on a "standard" '78 Corvette.
I drove my 69 on the NCRS road tour to St. Louis a few years ago. Had a set of EAGLE GT's on the car then. They were on the car when I bought it.
Didn't know they were anything special. They were supposedly the correct size and style for the Pace Car, maybe for the Anniversary Edition, I don't remember.
Had a guy at the NCRS meet "hanging" on me all week, BEGGING for my tires. I would have had no way to get home without tires, and I certainly wasn't buying tires in St. Louis.
Made a deal with the guy...drove home, bought a new set of Uniroyal blackwall radials. Took my 4 Eagle GT's to Corvette Carlisle. Met the same guy there, and sold them for BIG BUX. He was happy, but I had a real big grin on my face all weekend. Chuck

I have conflicting information, what tire size came from the factory on the 78PC?
225/70 R15
255/60 R15
Thanks!
78 Pacer and others got it correct...Pace Cars came equipped as standard equipment the 255/60 R15. If any question remains, I have a matching window sticker and build sheet for a Pace Car. Window sticker shows option Z78 and no QBS but the build sheet calls out QBS. This means it wasn't checked off by the customer but called out when Z78 was checked off.
Brand of P225/70 R15 on a 1978 Corvette from the factory?
On the 1978 Corvette, the standard tire was the P225/70R15 and the QBS option P255/60R15 for the PC. The QBS's were the Goodyear GT Radial outline white letters. Does anyone know what the original factory brand/model of the P225/70R15"s? I'm guessing it was a Goodyear tire but can not find anywhere what brand/model they were (for example: Goodyear Eagle ST). Thanks in advance for any help.
Thanks much for your help! I'm new to CorvetteForum but a lifetime member of C3VR (C3 Vette Registry). We were having a discussion about this topic. Have now found another excellent resource for information about our Corvettes! Again, thanks much.

The standard tire (non PC) was a 225/70/15 blackwall = QGQ, Goodyear Polysteel Radial
Two options for 78:
225/70/15 Raised White Letter = QGR, Goodyear Polysteel Radial
255/60/15 Raised White Letter, denoting Goodyear GT Radial = QBS however the fender needed to be trimmed at the factory if this was chosen.
Besides trimming the fender they also trimmed here:
