You were at the mas performace shop working with john? I am in Germany I have been talking to john on the phone about the 420hp 350 he makes and I have been heavly conserding the purchase trying to hold closer to spring but it is looking like sooner is going to come than later so would you recomend them? John seems real nice and knowldgeable?
John is great, he worked with me on everything I wanted to talk about. He doesn't usually do the dyno tuning, but he did mine, he wanted to personally take care of me, invited me to the shop to watch the dyno work.

Mike, the owner, and John's older brother does all the assembly, they're both very friendly.

They both pay close attention to detail and have been building engines for years.

I'd recommend them to anyone, they deliver on their promise...Next time you talk to John tell him how highly Tony recommends him.

-sorry for reviving such a old thread but I’m looking at getting the same cam, were you still able to use headlights and power breaks. Did the cam give enough vaccum to still use those??? Because that’s what I’m worried about not having enough vaccum with that big of a cam. I have a 383 also with pretty much the same comp ratio as you.

Like you said, Old thread, but this might help anyway. I did the 288 on my 383 and it pulls the headlights and wipers fine. For street driving, the power brakes were fine. When I started tracking it, the pedal was inconsistent depending on length of straight aways, time on full throttle, time off throttle, etc. That is a slightly bigger cam so unless you are seriously tracking the car, I think you'd be fine.

That was NOT a very good or well thought out build. The Dart heads were tiny 180 cc and the jetting was so far out of bounds that I could not figure it out unless they were using annular discharge boosters with a big vacuum leak.

I had a 288 type cam with a 383 and due to the single plane and 227cc heads the headlights were slow to open. The brakes were fine. I could have turned up the idle speed and they would work better

my 427 is very close to that, all thou my afr's are the 220 competition ported sets. my cam is at 254/248 109sep my lift is 6.11/5.92
my last RWHP Dyno run was north of 540hp and north of 560tq. (again, at the rear wheels through a complete exhaust system and all accessories including A/C) ... the intake is AFR Titan plastic single plain, with kooks 1 7/8 headers 11.4 C/R

And with amazing street manners... idles at 750-800 rpm perfectly tq starts heave at 2k rpm at and winds out at near 7k.... 1200 CFM FAST TB

I had my engine dynoed with everything hooked up ac exhaust and only ran it at 5000 rpm and did 502 hp and 523 trq at the rear wheels and it will make power over 6500 rpm.

Engine Dyno or chassis Dyno there is a difference also why didn’t you bring it up to 6500 if it can do it?

LIke the Dart head/intake combo over the E street& intake
those are 215cc?
Thats a real strong st engine torque for days, easy to drive and decent manners.
One day Ill get smart and actually build something that makes lots of torque..and good sense
Nah probably not. Enjoy

it was a chassis dyno at the rear wheels and I didn't feel the need to since I know it makes gobs of power .

yes I have it and the dyno guy said he didn't need to do a full on pull to tune it so I said no problem, I had it engine dynoed by the engine builder and then chassis tuned to make sure everything was correct and it was .
