I wonder if this poster was referring to the blue that was so pale, that at night, it looked white. In '78-'79, it was rare, but not all that rare. My wife had a '79 in that color. She ordered it new, and kept the car through '97.....

I don't usually like jumping into reactivated, ancient posts, but I do remember the chartreuse 77. Many years ago Vette Vues magazine had a story about the chartreuse 77, and color pictures of it on the cover. The Vette Vues issue was from around 78-82, and from what I remember the pictures were taken by a GM employee at GM's Arizona Proving Grounds. The employee was a Corvette fan, and took pictures of it in 77, because he realized it was so rare and unique. If I remember correctly, the article said the car was kept by GM for testing and I think later crushed (?), but I can't swear to that.

I know that years ago I posted pictures of the cover in another Corvette Forum post about the chartreuse 77, and I use to have pictures of the cover in my Photobucket account. Unfortunately, I stopped using Photobucket when they decided to hold everybody's photos hostage, and no longer know my account name or pass word. I may have pictures of the cover on an SD card somewhere, and probably still have the Vette Vues issue too, but I'm not in a position to look for either right now.

Here you go.
It was the cover car for the August 1977 issue. Car was a test mule, (notice no fender emblems) serial number 1Z37J7S400001 and belonged to Chevrolet. L-48 with automatic trans, and black interior. Pics were taken at the GM Desert Proving Grounds near Mesa, AZ.

With this picture, you have to allow for some ageing, fading and differences in camera and screen imaging today, that's why it looks so Yellow rather than Green. I had some code 41 Corvette Chartreuse paint mixed and sprayed by my body shop a few years ago and it looks almost identical to the sample that Redvette2 posted here, similar to the green used on Mopars around 1970-'72. Personally, I think it would look good on this era Corvette with a black interior.

The fate and whereabouts of the car is unknown today. I've heard stories of people who say they've seen it or a friend owns it now but it's a different color. But NONE of these stories have ever been backed up with any proof.

Probably a little closer to this when new:

Early '77s did not have fender emblems anyway but what is unusual, there doesn't seem to be an alarm lock either.
