As far as the VIN on the pillar post (same as on your title), no. All that tells you is what year, body style, sequence number, where it was made
To determine whatever engine you have takes a few numbers to check to verify what type engine, and if all its associated parts are correct the engine block, so get the following:
1. Look at the engine number stamp pad, passenger side, front of engine, just above and to the left of the water pump
2. Look at both head casting numbers. remove valve covers, and you will see them
3. If you can, look near the passenger side motor mount. There are date codes there
4. Look close at rear top of engine, right next to fire wall, for casting numbers. I beleive they are on the drivers side
report all those, and we can tell what you have, unless numbers have been counterfeited

From the engine block pad, what letters do you find there? Anything look like HE, HO, HP or HT?
HE= 327/300MT
HO= 327/300AT
HP= 327/300AT&AC
HT= 327/350MT

Good deal. Assuming the last 5 digits of the VIN are 15837, then you've likely got the original motor in the car. Now go get that thing running!!!! :cheers:

Yep, the VIN ends with 15837. Now the real task is getting it to the mechanic. Then it needs tires since they are 20 year old steel belted tires that have been sitting for 14 years and they were bad 14 years ago. Actually thats why the car doesn't run. It never got tires. I've been taking things apart and cleaning them. Then putting them back on. I also took The :eek:Velor/Fur:eek: (don't ask, the owner befor my grandma had it put on including the equally ugly velor seat covers with buttons) off the emergency brake console. It has 20 some year old glue on it so it needs to be sanded and painted. Well thanks you guys for all your help. Now I know what I have and I can order a sticker for the air cleaner that says 327/300hp cause I don't have one.
