~4K to have my '89 repainted Sep. '99. That included new rear window gasket and all new body side moldings.
Now it's covered with rock chips again :(

can be done nicely for under $2500.00 most of these $4000.00 paint jobs are ten deeper and better than factory. you can get factory paint for under $2500.00 if not less. if you throw in another $20.00 you can even get them to throw in some orange peel effect on a c-5= perfect factory match....
oh im gettin mine done for $1200.00 but im in dallas and it doesnt include door sills. but color matches

:D Maybe your local shops are better then all I've seen. I have seen some NASTY work come out of those business......paint running...........dirt in clear coat, shady door jams.......overspray that is just plain rediculous........You get what you pay for.......I do agree, 5g's for a paint job is ignorant (that's the going rate here in Vegas for a vette). But I would drive to California and get it painted right for 2500 before I'll try and save a buck and get it painted at Maaco though. Just my opinion..........like I said before though, maybe the Maaco near you has a better work ethic then the ones I've seen. ![](http://www.corvetteforum.cc/ubb/smile.gif)
Nothing wrong with disagreemant, life would be boring if we all had the same opinions and views.

this paint shop is off royal and i-35 in north dallas it is next door to the corvett shop owned by david, who does fantastic work. dont let the big $199.00 paint job sign throw you off. they can do a quick spray on an escort for $200 or they can put some time into a vett for acually around $1000. I need some extra work on mine. but they have some restore jobs there that you can look at and if you ask for jack and tell him kody with the 86 red vett sent you, he will know what you want.......

I have two estimates for a total repaint on my car. A local body shop that has an excellent reputation quoted $1500 for a good scuff and squirt job. A local custom painter quoted $3500 for a strip to bare glass, one coat primer surfacer, three coats color, four coats clear and color sand. I guess you pays your money and you takes your choice. :D

$200-$10,000 kind of depends on what you want. For a quick fix Earl Schibes will work if you tape the car and pull your emblems. Pay the extra for the best paint. I never used them but my dad did. The car looked fine years latter when he sold it. I have seen cars come out of the cheap shops with lots of overspray and paint on the tail lights. :yesnod:

The differance in the paint job being 4 or 6k is the removeal of all the parts Lights, moldings, side mirrors etc.. and the color sanding and buffing that occures before reassembly. The "orange peel effect" happens naturaly when painting the car. What determans the "orange peel effect" are things like the surface being painted, air pressure, (gun) tip size, and fluid when painting the vehicle. There sholud not be an extra charge for orange peel !!

i am not throwing a MACCO PAINT JOB OUT THERE although some arent that bad. i am saying that most of you out there are talking about a $3000.00 paint job that is ten times better than the factory job. Let's quit being so biased towards the frinancialy challenged.
YOU CAN GET A GOOD PAINT JOB FOR $1500.00 if not less
