Couple of months ago a motorcycle was clocked at 160mph on Lake Shore Drive in Chicago. Got attention in the papers as police said it was a local "record".
If I remember correctly the rider got a big fine and some jail time.

Gentleman
Who knows? last year in Phoenix a crotch rocket pilot was caught doing 167mph in a 45 mph, I know the road he was on and in the early morning there is no one on it, the cop with the radar clocked him but reported to the other two motorcycle cops that he got a clock but couldn't identify him or the license plates, he stated that he was just a blure, he got to keep his bike and 6 months later he could ride it again
local news paper said the bike was UP FOR SALE.

Total bullcrap. First of all it takes a bit over 600hp to make a c4/c5 coupe go 200mph. With the difference in drag on the convertible, I don't think 700hp would get you to 200. Nevermind that claim of doing it with the top down.
Ludicrous.
I can't believe that Corvette Magazine had the ***** to print such a blatantly
fake claim.

Only $375 is what I find totally unbelieveable. At anywhere near that speed he is just as big of a menace as a drunk school bus driver. I don't have a clue how Texas works but in Virginia the Commonwealth Attorney would have hung this guy out to dry, an the cop for letting him go.

By the way, if anyone can get a 418 horsepower (like in the article) stock bodied Corvette to go a valid 200mph, I'll pay them $1000. I don't have to worry, naturally, 'CAUSE THE LAWS OF PHYSICS PREVENT IT!
This guy did not receive a ticket for 205mph. He probably didn't receive a ticket at all. He fabricated the story and had his cop buddy write a bogus
ticket. Is it April already? I hope nobody was really duped by this moron's
claim.
Just puttin' a stop to his total line of BS.

I agree, something is really fishy here. I can make my own death certificate with Photoshop/Quark . In fact, with the right paper and program, I can give you Elvis's birth certificate at 205 MPH.
I think the unmentioned website should be more investigative and contact the DMV to see for themselves, if infact a 205 MPH ticket was given, before taking up precious webspace. Unles of coarse they're running, out of things to publish. and in this, the greatest of all car hobby's, there should be plenty to write about.
Shame on you.

Doesn't each local DA get the speeding tickets? I know here they do, and there are mandatory fines and incarcerations involved with that speed.

No offense to Texans, but i work for a big company based in Texas...
They always brag about how cheaper and Bigger everything is in Texas, so this may be ONE of the reasons his fine is cheap. Not only that, You figure, this guy's a "good old boy" and famous, so even if his claim wasn't :bs , which i agree i think is :bs :bs :bs , they could have been easy on him.
If it would of been one of us "outa staters" we would be in jail and
writing back home with something to write about, like How big Bubba the jailmate is.

Obviosly, that's the only reason this guy got in that article, because he's famous. Anyone of us wouldn't be smiling in front of the camera, we'd be complaining about the long stay in jail and how much the bum (rear) hurts     --- CAn someone pass the Tucks, medicated pads?

I agree completely with you guys on the ticket :bs
However I highly disagree with this statement. The Callaway TT will go 200 with slight mods and a LOT less than 600hp. LPE's 383 C5 went like 203 in MT when first tested. It had around 475hp.

Re: Who got the ticket going 210mph in here? (AquaMetallic94LT1)
I was racing a friend in Va. once. He was in his 88 5.0 GT, me in my 79 383 vette.
I left him...he could not catch up. The cop busted him...I got away.
His speed...156 MPH.
He was given a ticket and drove back to base. He went to court, paid his ticket and life went on.
If you notice, this guy was outside county lines in Texas. He was an X-Pro football player. He can afford it, and the cop probably knew of him.
If it were an average person... you would be lucky to not land in jail, but that depends on the cop.
