Yes I have the Blose system
Not sure if that has anything to do with it or not (probably not) but sound rarely likes to travel through the left channel. If I fiddle with the tuner **** I can find a sweet spot most of the time and by holding pressure on that sweet spot for some reason the left channel comes to life! Once I remove my hand it's back to being crappy again... what gives?
My Camaro likes to pull this kind of schmidt also... :smash:

Sounds like Bose sent over another aftermarket radio salesman to me. I think like 1988L98 said its a bad volume control pot.

ok well call me Mr. Technician!
I'm more than happy to rip that chunk of dated electronics out and put the tools to it. I am not scared of it in the least and if I slip and hit it with a 25lb sledge by accident I promise I will not shed a single tear. :D
So what's the procedure to rig this piece-o-junk til it's time to redo the sound system (I can't wait for this part!!! :reddevil )?

I have a similar problem, sound level drops by 20 dB (100 times) and wiggling the volume control will get it back , but it drops out repeatedly. I am going to remove the radio and see what it is. Probably cracked circuit board that the volume control is mounted on. Don't smash the radio, it can be repaired. Remove the radio and remove covers on radio to allow access to the volume control and measure or visually inspect the control and circuit board.

You'd probably have to order the part from GM, a radio repair place, or get it from a crapped out radio at a yard. Should be pretty straight forward. Little solder to get it in after the old one is removed. Or you could have it sent out and replaced for probably 50$ an hour labor and parts. Probably under $100 bucks. luck
