HUD display for C4!
I know after having a C5 that I wondered how I ever drove my C4 without one. Well, SOON YOU CAN HAVE HUD for your C4! The all-in-one unit is about 1/4 the size of a pack of cigarettes and requires no antenna or anything! Just mount on the dash and the GPS does the work IT'S AWESOME!!
Well, I've got a solution and a LOW PRICED one at that for you guys! Available in Feb I will have my first shipment of our new GPS Heads Up Display that works in ANY vehicle!!!
This device is simply amazing. It's about 1/3" thick, 1.5" high, and 4" long. It shows your SPEED and a COMPASS. It also has a built in BlueTooth transmitter that will work with any capable map software on your phone or laptop. It will be the GPS antenna for your software! It works on a cigarette lighter plug BUT it has a built in Lithium Ion battery that will allow it to work without a power source. I've left mine on without a power source for over a day and it still worked!
The display is in red LED digital numbers and the compass is green. It is set up at the front of the dash under the windshield to reflect on the glass. Comes with 2 squares of light tint to place on the windshield where the reflection is to help keep it visible in the daylight.
On my 2008 Silverado I put the reflection and tint just behind the windshield wiper and it is visible even in the brightest sunlight! Oh, and it self-adjusts at night so it's not too bright as well - very nice feature.
It also has a built in programmable over-speed warning which will blink when you go over a certain speed. Great for long trips in heavy traffic where you can't set your cruise control for long.
The only down-side I've found thus far is that the cigarette lighter plug has a voltage regulator in it that outputs a lower voltage, so you can't just cut the plug off and hardwire it in..... I came up with a great solution though! I will be including with the kit a two-port auxillary plug kit that you can mount pretty much anywhere. I put mine under the dash and hardwired it in to the fuse-box with constant power. Now I have an extra power point hidden under the dash for phone chargers or radars or whatever you need! I will include this with the HUD unit and instructions as well!
One last thing, on TomTom's and other nav units, often the speed lags wayyyy behind on fast accelleration. NOT ON THIS UNIT! It uses 20+ satellites for positioning and reacts FAST to your speed. It's really a great device. Helps you calibrate your speedometer properly as well.
I will post a couple pics here in just a little bit of one installed in the truck. My first bulk shipment will be coming in Feb from the manufacturer so as soon as I get a better exact date I will start taking orders.
The kit is only going to be around $100 with the instructions and extra power outlet!

Need a test vehicle to demo this project? Im a daily C4 driver i'll be happy to document and install and post up some feedback with photos. I can also compare the unit to my modern day Pioneer AVIC GPS head unit which I have in my car and can see in my corvette photos at the left. Plus I have a ZR-1 with the solar windshield so I can test for problems, placement etc. GC

The unit won't work with the Iphone (I tried on mine), the iPhone is very locked-out to most bluetooth devices.
The unit sits in a little metal bracket that can be adjusted for the angle you choose. The bracket uses double-sided tape (could use velcro if you chose) and the unit has a magnet in it under a rubber pad. It sucks itself right in place securely but easily removeable if you didn't want to leave it in the car.
The tint that comes with the kit is much lighter but I will try to use the unit today without any tint and see how it works. The tint that comes with the unit is about the same as the square you see on the Vette from the factory. Not saying it would be or would not be legal, but it wouldn't be very noticable.
Thanks for the input guys, all of it is appreciated!

Trunk Monkey has a HUD unit in his car. I believe its just like the C5's. It has the projector installed in the dash. Looks real nice. His cost more than $100 though.

Cool, thanks for sharing! It looks like it works pretty good without any tint square too!
Will let you all know how ours works without the tint soon.
