I just purchased a 1994 and I have a slight issue with the driver's side window. If the door is open, the front of the window will go up about an inch to high and will hit the back of the window will hit the car when shut. If I close it with the door shut, the window goes up nearly correct with the fron just a tad to high. I have been trying just close the window just right with the control but it is a little trying. Is the window out of adjustment or is there a stop that is possibly broken that needs to be replaced?
After figuring out how to do a search on this forum, I found this link. Sound like window adjustment is not for the weak?

This is what the part looks like:
http://www.parts123.com/parts123/yb....Z5Z5Z50000050F
These parts break and then the glass falls down. The channel guides were only used on later model C4s (1993 - 1996?). The hard part is getting the piece(s) of the old part removed from the glass as a special socket is required. You need to have two pins on the socket fit into two recess holes on the retainer nut that attaches the channel guide. I wound up modifying a disc brake socket from Pep Boys by grinding down the tool until the two pins fit into the channel guide retainer nut. You'll be tearing the door completely apart
to replace this guide. Good luck. I learned a lot about my Corvette doors by replacing this part and a bad hinge bushing. And yes I used the FSM too.

FSM= Factory Service Manual available from Helm's. You will need it unless someone wants to post the many screw locations and disassembly steps to the door. Get it anyway if you work on these cars you will eventually need it.

Do a search, many here have this fix well documented. I had a shop replace mine for about 70 bucks.

FSM - Factory Service Manual
Got the GM service manuals for 1994 off of EBay for $80.00. Thanks for the link to Helms. I didn't know they existed.
After looking at the FSM, I decided it wasn't going to be a couple hour job plus once I had the door apart, I would have to figure out which parts to order and wait until they arrived. That plus I had a couple drops per day antifreeze leak I couldn't find so I totally wimped out and took it to repair shop that specializes in Corvettes. I am sure after I get the bill, it will motivate me next time to do it myself.
Man, those FSM sure have alot of good information in them. No more guessing! I replaced a couple of the plastic panels around the rear windows and it sure made the job more easy. I did save some money by getting a parts list CD from EBay and ordered the parts from www.GMPartsDirect.com.
Thanks for the help.

Aw Geez I have one on my Red car [ passenger side ] doing something simular.
You have to roll the window a inch or so because the window will not sit up straight and it hangs.
I can rock it a little so I think the problem is channel or stop related.

You can get the pin wrench at harbour freight.$2.99 I used it for mine twice.
http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/cta...emnumber=36554
The only problem is getting it set the first time you have to loosen it and get it to line up with the 2 holes then tighten it not really hard to do once you have the door apart.

$2.99 plus the $14.95 stop and 1/2 hr of my time was all it cost me. $2.99 cheaper for the other side. It takes a little longer the first time but this car is my second set I have done. Keep us posted I might want to make some $$$ doing these.
