Read the top of the oil filler cap.

And remember this is not an exotic foreign car.
It's an American made Corvette that shares many conventional
wisdom regarding lubricants and maintenance practices.

Nice find. Hope you drive it.
Your probably going to need to read alot on this forum.

Just about any conventional oil. If its a flat tappet Summit sells some new oil with a bunch of the zinc/ZDDP or whatever it is those motors seem to like. Just remember it isnt the best thing for your cats.

My 1985 orignal engine is still untouched with 102,000. Runs really great and with the reduced ZDDP in the usual shelf oil to protect the newer roller lifter new cars to protect the cats in making them last longer, I switched to Shell Rotella because of the ZDDP protection for my 1985's cam and lifters.

Still have the original cat on my 1985, seems fine to me. So since my 1985 was new up untill the reduced ZDDP, the oil off the shelf had the ZDDP had no effect on my 85's cat. Shell Rotella can be bought in 10W30.

Great looking ride, You need to drive it, and to enjoy your purchase, I have a 87 C4, with 12,000 miles, I really enjoy my Vette, I use a synthetic oil, Castro 5w30, with a K&N oil filter.

Personally, I use synthetic in everything, but you can also use conventional.

The filler cap should have the weight recommendation....probably 5W30, and go from there.

We don't have enough oil threads. Let's resurrect all the 11 year olds ones. Dan
