Default Stainless Steel Brake Hoses - opinions?

Well the insurance check showed up for the hit-run yesterday, $4046! So, most likely next week, the car will go to the shop for its tear down and repaint. In any event, I was looking thru the catalogs for the parts I need to supply to the shop and came across stainless steel brake lines. I read they give a more responsive feel and hold up better. As the car is 26 years old, I am looking to replace all the brake hoses anyway and thought this might be a great upgrade. Anyone here do this and if so what are your thoughts? Better, worse or no difference? Any input is as always, appreciated.

Earls - best in my opinion because the block that goes against the caliper is almost the same size and sape as the block on the stock rubber lines. When I bought mine each hose was labeled where it went (ex. Right Front). I've had them on the car almost 4 years now.

Where did you purchase yours? I saw a set on the Ecklers catalog for $109 but it makes no mention of the brand. Summit & JEGS only have the Russel brand.

They are cheap insurance, and do provide a more 'solid' pedal feel. I got mine at Ecklers. No issues.

Put some (dont remember the brand) on my Son's car and it made the pedal very firm and responsive. When you push harder on the pedal, it doesn't squish down further like before; it just stops faster!

Make sure they are the DOT approved versions. More for insurance purposes rather than safety.

This is a must. Brake hoses/hardware is something I never cheap out on. No matter how good a car looks and runs, if it dont stop its a POS.

I'm in total agreement there. The ones I saw were DOT approved.

You won't be disappointed in the stainless lines. I even have them on my '89 Full Size Chevy Truck.
