Default Tail light Blackout "Issue"

Bought a set of black outs from Ecklers. The push on type that fit around the lens and is held on by the friction of the rubber rim. Well yesterday I lost one.. after only driving around for a week. Upsetting since the kit cost $80. So before I fork out more money for another set has anyone else dealt with this issue? How can I keep this from happening again?

Many states have laws about having red reflectors at the rear of the car. The stock lenses have reflectors built into them and many of these blackout stickers will cover them. State also have regulations about how far away tail lights and brake lights have to be visible and maybe a minimum levle of brigthtness.

Blacking out tail lights on a street car never made sense to me. I could see for a show but not street driving.

I blacked out the tail lights but replaced the third brake light with a black LED light.. for better braking visibility rather than blacking it out too

Reflectors are a federal regulation. Blacked out lenses are called probable cause to make a traffic stop. Lately, many places make that unpleasant.

Light blackout kits are so 1980's...these cars may be timeless but GTO smoked lenses are not.

I never did understand the use of blackout kits on street cars. With so many idiots on the road, I would rather have an anti blackout kit where the lights were brighter !

I want to be seen as far away as possible ..

Now on track cars, or show cars, who cares. But on the street. No way.

No kidding. I wish my tail/brakelights would burn holes in the car behind. As low as the 'Vettes are and with such a short *** end I always think the car following me is about to bend my license plate.

In California those "free" covers could get expensive. They are illegal and better than no front plate at attracting LEO.
