How can you look at this car and NOT make a joke out of it? Did you see this thing? Lol, I love C4s and I’ve always wanted a ZR1, but it’s obvious that this one is hilarious looking...

It kind of has an interesting history.

My thoughts:
1) It was owned by Mattress Mack and used as his personal car.
2) Mack always had great give-a-way prizes and it could have been one of them.

I would take the 5 minutes and craft up an email and try and get a hold of Jim @ Gallery Furniture.

back in the early 90's mac came to our club meeting a couple times, san jacinto corvette club. he had just purchased a new zr1 and wanted to get acquainted with some other corvette people, so he said. this must be that car. anyways, never heard from him again and it looks like he used this car as a way to advertise his furniture store, tax write off.

Congrats on your new project ZR-1, Matt!

Looking forward to many videos showing your progress.

Don’t end up selling it off like the Goblin or Monte Carlo!

And the the forum will have your back with respect to recommended mods and $$ - we won’t tell Mere!

Not sure where in Texas you are. There’s a shop in Magnolia, “Crossed Flags Performance” that knows these cars, particularly the engine, inside out. Steve Schroeder is the owner. If you don’t know these engines I would have them go through the mechanicals to see what you actually have and what it needs. Good luck, looks like a fun project.

Oh, and www.MirrockCorvette.com a dismantler in PA just got in a 3k mile 91’ Z with a perfect interior. I believe the interior is red. Black with red guts is nice!

Congrats and good luck on the project. The exterior is kind of hilarious, honestly I'd probably just put a wrap on it once you get the car running. All the interior is standard C4, so while it's a mess, there's plenty of donor parts available if you need them to completely redo it. I'll add another vote for Crossed Flags Performance if you need a shop to do some work. I've had really great results with them.

Congrats!! Be looking forward to seeing what you do with her....the idea of a mild-custom seems really appealing--I'm one of those guys who scopes out the mild-custom C2s, LOL...Best of luck with the project!

OH PS--there are a couple of FB pages for custom C4s--I'm not currently a member, but there might be some good ideas over there.

Holy $hit! This guy must have a huge YouTube following. That video has gotten 687k views in 2 days!!! At least the Z is getting exposure to a new generation. Let’s see what he actually ends up doing with it?

I would say that 3,2 million subscribers is a half decent following.
Saw the video on his channel a couple of days ago and I´m really looking forward to the progress with this car. It is in an interesting state right now.

Sad to see what happened to a ZR1 in only 60,000 miles. That said, the dash display doesn't work, so hard to tell how many miles it really has, I guess. Must be from the paperwork, but the miles don't really matter on a project like this anyway. Definitely the worst ZR1 I've ever seen in person or in pics. Come to think of it, I've never seen a trashed ZR1 in person, only nice ones.

I don't think he's making a joke out of it, he's just having a sense of humor about what he bought. And... the video is intended for his You Tube audience, not other Corvette enthusiasts.

I couldn't believe he was just starting up a car that hadn't been on the road in 16-17 years with no prep - old gas and all. Especially a ZR1. However, he is planning to tear down and rebuild everything anyway, that's what he bought it for. I'd hate to see the block ruined by running and revving it under those conditions, though - who knows what would happen to it? Hard to believe it actually started, assuming the video is straight forward and the start up wasn't staged/edited.

Looks like he has the means to do what he plans, so I don't think it's going to end up back in the junk yard. I look forwarding to watching the progress. I hope that he provides pics/videos here directed at Corvette enthusiasts, not just for his You Tube audience.

Dude, get that Dexcool coolant out of that engine! It will eat up the head gaskets! This has been been documented by Marc Haibeck, ZR1Specialist.com, currently the number one authority on these engines. That engine needs the old style green coolant only!
