I never like black rims period. Sawblades in black only worsens it. Track cars would be the exception for black rims, but on a regular street car I never cared for black. Of course, opinions vary. A lot of people like em. So I never give my opinion unless someone asks.
If you have the factory sawblades on it now, why not just leave em as is and just clean em up for the time being? At least until you figure out what's what under the hood. You just bought it, didn't you? You might have to throw money at it elsewhere and maybe haven't discovered it yet.
I'm not sure I'm for or against them. If I do it, they will retain the silver edge. Like this.
This is not my car just one I found online a while back. If I do it it will be in plasti-dip first so if I decide no, I can peel it off.
In case I do it, I have been playing around with 3d printed center caps. You can change the color pretty cheap but then you'll spend over $100 to get matching center caps, or have to paint yours.
Kind of depends on the color of the car. With purple it seems like polished aluminum is almost mandatory.
If we're talking about a white or silver or some other light color, then maybe the black would look alright.
As always, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I'd make sure the rims aren't bent before anything. When I bought my c4 one of the first things I had done was fix the bent rims. Factory Cuisinart rims, in my case. I hit around 70 mph and noticed pretty good vibration, so I took it in to have the rims checked. All four were out pretty far. I forget how far they were out off the top of my head, I have it in my receipt book some place. I've since surpassed short run speeds on new Goodyears that I'll not repeat on here and it's been pretty smooth sailing.
Maybe try painting therm "Gunmetal" instead of black. I can't tell what a black wheel even looks like, until I get right up on them.
I do think it gives a car that "missing hubcaps" look.
