My 1987 Corvette passenger Seatbelt shoulder harness will not stay sung when in use. Shoulder harness will not stay retracted/snug on your shoulder.
How is this problem normally fixed? A new seatbelt is available from my Chevy parts dept for $218.00
What company can repair this seatbelt?
Thanks

I talked two different people at GM today about the recall. Both of the GM reps told me that there is no seatbelt recall for my 87 Corvette.
My Chevy Dealer also told me the same thing. I am either going to buy a new seatbelt from Chevy or have my old one repaired.
I gave the GM rep all the recall information from this forum.
No luck, I thing GM just does not want to spend the money to correct this problem for a old car.

Go to my link.
Here is the Recall

You can look up your year and vin. If its not working it most likely is covered, and they are responsible to fix it. Other wise get a letter from the stating they decline.

Just called Chevrolet Customer Assistance this morning about the recall.
I was told that if a recall had not been performed it would show up when they looked up your VIN.
According to Chevrolet they told me since the recall is not shown open in their computer, it has already been done.

I have this paper in my file from 1991, here are the links to a scan of it(too big to directly show, don't want to shrink it and lose some readability):

My new seatbelt should be arriving soon. I wish there was a way to identify the defective seatbelt from the newer improved belt.
That way Chevrolet could pay ($218.00) for the new seatbelt???
Under the recall.

Call the Chevrolet Office, it's number is listed in that page I scanned(and it is still correct), and they can mail you some forms to try and request reimbursement. It sometimes works and won't cost you anything.

My 88 had the same problem, so I found out about the recall and brought it to the dealership's attention. They honored the recall but they could not find the right color (black) so they installed some grey at no charge. They never worked. So I bought new ones at Eklers. They did not work either. Right now I still have the ones from Eklers with safety clips like the ones used to hold car seats for babies. It works just like a charm. The seatbelt doesnot retract but they provide the protection that I need to keep me safe in my seat. I hope yours work.
